I'm not really a huge fan, but Bruce Hornsby & the Range were the first real concert that I ever saw. My dad took my brother and a couple of our friends to see them in Williamsburg when they were touring to support Scenes From the Southside.

Songs of his that I like:
"Mandolin Rain"
"The Way It Is"
"Look Out Any Window"
"Every Little Kiss"

Basically, anything off of his first two albums (The Way It Is and Scenes... - I haven't really heard any of his stuff after those). Man, I need to pick these up on CD. My brother swiped my cassettes years ago.

It's nice to see a fellow Virginian do good.

Same as DJLinus. Mandolin Rain and The Way It is were brilliant songs. I went to the concert he had at my college way back when.

Didn't Marc Cohn do "Walking in Memphis"? I didn't think that was Bruce Hornsby. However, "Mandolin Rain" has always been my favorite.

Did someone say Bruce Hornsby?

This man is absolutely incredible on the piano. I mean, FLAT OUT INSANE. I've been playing piano for 6 years now, and still have problems doing some of his solos(I'm not even going to try 'King of the Hill")
My favorite Hornsby album though has to be his first...every....and I mean song on that first record is one you just want to roll down your window in your car and sing along. His music is addictive. He is one my favs

Not a huge fan but I definitely dig him. He has some great songs & he is an amazing piano player. I've seen him in concert a few times when he joined the remaining members of the Grateful Dead & he was incredible.

Saw him in concert, waaaay back in 87 or 88 I think. Was sharing a bill with Edie Brickell. She was sick and didnt play so he had to do entire concert. After doing his normal sets, just started playing other songs, and taking requests from the audience. Was a pretty cool concert experience.

I've seen Bruce in concert several times, and I think he's one of the most versitile and underrated mucisians out there.

As for this supposed cover of "Walking In Memphis," I've yet to find it. Time and time again my friends and I have downloaded a file claiming to be his cover, but it's the original version by Mark Cohen.

If you want a good cover, try to find the version of "End of the Innocence" that he did on the Tonight Show, with Shawn Colvin, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Brown.

He's very consistent; almost everything on his first two albums is good-->great. I'm looking forward to acquiring A Night on the Town soon.

I'm partial to Big Swing Face, as it takes his music to places that fans of his first 4 CD's would never have dreamed of.
