best song with an abrupt ending

looking for a good song that doesn't just slowly trail off at the end.

Buford T Pusser 08-30-03 08:36 PM

i'll think about that, but I know it's not the Beatles "A Day in the Life".

evenflow 08-30-03 08:55 PM

The Beatles-I want you (She's so Heavy).

Probably not the best but one of my favorites.

Eminem - Stan

Aphex Twin 08-31-03 01:08 AM

The Beach Boys - I'm Waiting For The Day

I second I Want You (She's So Heavy).

I really like how it works out on the CD. On the LP, that is the last song on the first side. The first song on the second side is Here Comes the Sun. On the CD, as soon as I Want You stops, Here Comes the Sun starts. The contrast is so stark it is just GREAT! I don't know if it was planned, that way, beings that you have to flip the LP over... oh well. I like it! :)

Me'shell Ndegeocello and I think Prince.

"Wasted Time" from the "Bitter" cd

It ends so abrubtly you actually find yourself checking your cd player for malfunctions.

Yeah. But not a Homer Simson doh! (although a parody like that would be kinda funny)

Paranoid Android - Radiohead

Michael Corvin 09-01-03 10:23 PM

No. No. No. and No.

If you want ABRUPT you want Dream Theater's only mainstream hit, "Pull Me Under."

Queensryche has one too, but which one it is right now escapes me.

I thought for years that my cd was messed up. Didn't know it was supposed to end abruptly until I heard my friend's cd.

"No Regrets" by Robbie Williams.

Just a loud 'DEAD.' and it's a bit of a jolt.

Turd Ferguson 09-02-03 08:22 PM

Counting Crows- "Rain King"

This is a great song UNTIL the abrupt, crappy ending where the lead singer adds his stupid "Yeahhhh!"

Does Zep's Heartbreaker count? I burned that track onto a mix CD and with out Livin' Lovin' Maid following it just stops at "Heart!".

Simon and Garfunkel - "Hazy Shade of Winter"

CephalicCarnage 09-04-03 06:49 PM

also along the lines of DT's "Pull Me Under", Opeth's "Serenity Painted Death" and "Closure" have some pretty abrupt endings..
