Interested in getting as many as I could from those cd clubs. Any help would be awesome.

The Source has been a really crappy mag over the last 6 or so years, but they used to be great.
Regardless, here's the albums they supposedly gave 5 mics to (so many more deserved it, but got slept on by them as usual).
I say supposedly because most of these DID NOT receive 5 mics in the magazine (according to my back issues). Example "Doggystyle" only got 4 mics), yet here's all the albums listing at the Source's website under their "5 Mic" section. Thus I detest them for such fickleness and trying to save face. I believe only 10 or so albums have "truly" got 5 mics in original print, although I could list off at least 50 that deserve full marks.

In seemingly no particular order:

NAS // ILLMATIC
A TRIBE CALLED QUEST // PEOPLES INSTINCTIVE TRAVELS AND THE PATHS OF RHYTHM
ICE CUBE // AMERIKKKA'S MOST WANTED
SCARFACE // THE FIX
OUTKAST // AQUEMINI
JAY-Z // THE BLUEPRINT
NAS // STILLMATIC
NOTORIOUS B.I.G. // LIFE AFTER DEATH
BRAND NUBIAN // ONE FOR ALL
DR. DRE // THE CHRONIC
A TRIBE CALLED QUEST // THE LOW END THEORY
DE LA SOUL // DE LA SOUL IS DEAD
PUBLIC ENEMY// IT TAKES A NATION OF MILLIONS TO HOLD US BACK
ERIC B. & RAKIM // LET THE RHYTHM HIT EM
2PAC // ME AGAINST THE WORLD
ICE CUBE // DEATH CERTIFICATE
LL COOL J // RADIO
RAEKWON // ONLY BUILT FOR CUBAN LINX
SCARFACE // HE DIARY
SNOOP DOGGY DOGG // DOGGYSTYLE
RUN-DMC// RAISING HELL
MAIN SOURCE // BREAKING ATOMS
ERIC B. & RAKIM// PAID IN FULL
SLICK RICK// The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick
THE D.O.C. // NO ONE CAN DO IT BETTER
BEASTIE BOYS // LICENSE TO ILL
2PAC // ALL EYES ON ME
BIG DADDY KANE// LONG LIVE THE KANE
BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS // BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY
NOTORIOUS B.I.G // READY TO DIE
GETO BOYS // GRIP IT ON THAT OTHER LEVEL
FUGEES // THE SCORE
JAY-Z // REASONABLE DOUBT
MOBB DEEP // THE INFAMOUS
JUNGLE BROTHERS // STRAIGHT OUTTA THE JUNGLE
N.W.A. // STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON
EPMD // STRICTLY BUSINESS
DR. DRE // DR. DRE 2001
RUN-DMC// RUN DMC
WU-TANG CLAN // ENTER THE WUTANG (36 CHAMBERS)
BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS// CRIMINAL MINDED
ULTRAMAGNETIC MC's // CRITICAL BEATDOWN

Yeah, I used to subscribe and I don't remember a lot of these being in there when they came out. Also can't see how they left out Black on Both Sides and Mos Def and Talib Kweli present Black Star.

The Source jumped the shark when they gave that crappy Made Men album 4.5 mics. It's been going downhill ever since.

Indeed.
Made Men.. coincidentally a group that included Benzino, an employee of The Source.
What a crock magazine now.

XXL is decent now I suppose, as is URB, but there aren't too many great hip-hop mags out there...

Getting 5 mics is so common now that it no longer appears to be important.

I remember at one time, during the 93-97 era when rap/hip-hop albums REALLY shined but only got rewarded with 3 or 4 mics.

Sorry, but I refuse to believe that today's rap is better than what came out of the 90's.

You are 100% correct. I can count on one hand the amount of Hip Hop Albums I have bought from this year.

Benzino ruined that mag,if anyone on Shady records or the Aftermath lable comes out with a album no matter how good the album is it wont get 5 mics, its a fact and if they dont like a rapper or a rap group the mics will not be there,if you listen to any of the Detroit underground albums 1-6 you will here Em rip Benzino and his Source mag a new a$$,the mag is a joke and should only be used to wipe your a$$.

Source is a joke. Benzino nominated his own song (rock the party) for single of the year for their award show. Do they really expect people to take them seriously now?
