TORONTO - Rock fans across the nation will be able to watch, or listen to, select performances from Toronto's Rolling Stones-SARS benefit concert next week, as both the CBC and music network MuchMoreMusic have negotiated broadcast rights.
It was announced Thursday night that CBC-TV, CBC Radio One, and MuchMoreMusic will broadcast parts of the July 30 concert.
The networks will feature live coverage from Downsview Park - including updates, interviews and backstage footage - as well as selected performances from the concert.
MuchMoreMusic will offer 11-hour coverage beginning noon EDT, while CBC-TV and CBC Radio One will begin their broadcasts at 9pm EDT.
CBC Newsworld and Radio-Canada will also broadcast highlights from the event throughout the day.
Besides headliners The Rolling Stones, performers include AC/DC, Rush, The Guess Who, Kathleen Edwards, The Isley Brothers and The Have Love Will Travel Revue, featuring James Belushi and concert host Dan Aykroyd.
More than 400,000 people are expected to attend.
Concert organizers revealed an updated "allowed items" list and other information at a press conference Thursday.

My friend in Calgary told me that they are also showing the concert (via satellite) at the Saddledome because of the the lone Madcow scare that's devastated Canadian ranchers. Apparently there are a lot of free tickets to be given away. Of course we're driving into Calgary a day later (for the football game--go 'Riders!), so there's no chance I can see it.

For those lucky to live near the borders, ie: Detroit/Windsor or Sarnia/Port Huron in Michigan, the CBC signal is coming through OK. Not HD or stereo, but for CBC, this is the best they can do. They should have had a FM simulcast.
Also, using the above CBC link, you can get it on a webcast, however, it was real slow in bufferring this afternoon.
Rush is on right now at 9:10 PM (EST).
Expect Pioneer or Image to do a DVD before Christmas.
