Iron Maiden "Dance of Death" t-shirt on website

www.ironmaiden.com has a new limited edition t-**** for "Dance of Death" up for order. I sure as hell hope this isn't an indication for the cover art - the graphic on the t-shirt looks like the computer-generated dancing baby with a mask on, riding a white wolf. Here's the link to the site:

http://www.eddiesmegastore.com/

I hope the cover art for the new album is not what's shown on the t-shirt.

I've seen it, and I can tell you, I don't have any dought in my mind, that, that will not be the cover. I really don't think them or thier mangement would be that stupid, but then again, I have seen worse. I just can't wait untill September.

...and I don't.

The 'Ed Reaper is cool, but the weird masks... the baby on the wolf, the crappy computer generated stuff... I dunno. I thought the cover to Brave New World was perfect. Very classy and set the right mood. This just seems silly.

So anyone know if this cover is by Derek Riggs? I've heard he now does computer-generated art like this.

Notice the Ally McBeal baby is just sort of hovering over the wolf.

Poser should never, ever be used for album covers.

Edit: No, it's not done by Riggs.

I'm sorry, but that cover art is incredibly bad. It's like something someone would create after they downloaded Photoshop from KAZAA, modified some overused web art and deemed themselves a graphic designer. Geezus...

I must say that I was dissapointed as well, when I saw this picture on the Iron Maiden web page a few days ago. The cover has raised a big stink among the Maiden fans on the Iron Maiden message board. The CG looks second rate, lets just hope the music on the album is not. I'm also wondering how the theme of this cover will tie into the upcoming Dance of Death Tour this fall. I'm sure we'll be seeing a giant reaper Eddie apear from behind the stage, or somthing of that nature. I'm still hopeing for the best, despite the lackluster cover art. A book is not judged by it's cover.

I'm sure it will still kick A**.

He and Harris had a falling out. Something about having to redo the Wicker Man cover 30+ times.

The CD better not suck. But alot of people dp judge books by their covers.

I've heard varying things about this cover...one that they are planting it to mislead bootlegs and stuff before the actual cover is released, but who knows...all I can say is that yeah, that cover is terrible with the exception of the Reaper Eddie...they should keep him and replace all the rest, I mean Jesus, I could make better looking 3D Renders than that....

Maybe it was Nicko's idea, he's apparently not too right in the head:

what Nicko did was bad and he should be held responsible for it.

HOWEVER, what MORAN stands in front of a car with a driver you just pissed off? You let the car in, call your supervisor, he calls the police they tow the car....

BTW, I've always wondered this...

you know how Star Trek movies are supposed to be good only when even numbered?

Does anyone think there's a relationship between Iron Maiden albums with kick ass covers being good and ones with covers that are just "so so" being marginal albums???

Hmmmm. Interesting theory...

Let's see...

IRON MAIDEN -- Great cover -- Great album
KILLERS -- Great cover -- Great album
NUMBER OF THE BEAST -- Great cover -- Great album
PIECE OF MIND -- Great cover -- Great album
POWERSLAVE -- Great cover -- Great album
LIVE AFTER DEATH -- Great cover -- Great album
SOMEWHERE IN TIME -- Great cover -- Great album
SEVENTH SON -- Good cover -- Great album
NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING -- Good cover -- Okay album
FEAR OF THE DARK -- Okay cover -- Okay album
X - FACTOR -- Crap cover -- Crap album
VIRTUAL XI -- Good cover -- Crap album
BRAVE NEW WORLD -- Great cover -- Great album

The pattern I see is that the 80s albums were the best, cover-wise and content-wise.

Once they started moving into the 90s, the wind seemed to be coming out of their sales some, and both the music and the covers suffered for it. BNW seemed to see a re-energized Maiden, reunited with BD after some time apart.

But it does seem like when the band is in a rut, the covers tend to be bad.

The cover is too busy (even for Maiden), and the computer graphics suck.

Hopefully they do fix the cover art.

I still think the album is going to be really good, though.
