you're right. and i'm bummed the venue has no box office since i work around the corner. i could swear it used to. i think i bought portishead tixc in person there. oh well. noon tomorrow. wish me luck!

Gil Jawetz 08-13-04 09:48 AM

I think they just added 2 shows to the new york stand! nice!

zutroy 08-13-04 10:40 AM

I wonder if they are actually sold out - It looks like there's a ton of tickets on eBay not moving... I wonder if 4 nights were too many shows. I hate Hammerstein... I wish they would have played one night at Irving Plaza or Bowery - that would have been awesome.

Anyway, you should have no problem buying tickets today.

Gil Jawetz 08-13-04 11:03 AM

Done and done. if the tix really aren't moving maybe I'll get a tick for myself to a week night show down the road. it would be cool to just walk around the corner after work and see another show.

zutroy 08-13-04 11:08 AM

Yeah, I just got tickets to Saturday, which will be good. I have a total of tickets for 3 nights, but may end up giving Monday's tickets to a friend. Either way, have a great time - they're awesome.

Gil Jawetz 08-13-04 11:14 AM

Did you read my review of the DVD? http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=11535

TripWire 08-13-04 11:28 AM

damn man, I bought tickets for Sunday thinking that was going to be their first NY show, now there is like 5 shows to go to :P

zutroy 08-13-04 11:37 AM

whoa.

I guess I was wrong and they are selling out!

Gil Jawetz 08-13-04 11:50 AM

really? where do you see that?

zutroy 08-13-04 11:52 AM

Well, Sat - Tuesday appears to be sold out and Wednesday was just added. I wonder if they'll add any more dates.

Gil Jawetz 08-13-04 11:58 AM

woah! you're right. that's awesome. man, that kicks ass. How long until Dec 11 again? :D

jonnyrocks 08-13-04 12:50 PM

Must be selling damn well if they added Wednesday, and now Thursday!

Couldn't grab tix for Saturday, so I had to settle with Wednesday...back when I thought that Wednesday would be their last night, that is.

Gil Jawetz 08-13-04 01:08 PM

Maybe they'll just set up shop there and become the house band for a year!

Me too - needless to say, I'm looking to trade Wednesday for Thursday tix.

let's see they break up and tickets are around $10, maybe more if they were opening for someone.

they haven't done anything in X amount of years, and think it's ok to charge fans $40 + for tickets.

HAHAH..

man, i live with memories rather than pay quadruple the price for some washed out rockers looking to make a buck..

... because most bands today are not looking to make a buck?

I appreciate your sense of "keeping it real" but they are still an awesome band. If they come to your town, you should check them out.

whatever man, your loss is right......that just means one extra ticket I'll be able to get. Thanks.

When I last time I saw the Pixies, they played in front of a few hundred people and tickets were $30-something. I'm willing to pitch in an extra $5 for what I'm sure will be a fantastic show.

Not really his loss since he doesn't care. I also saw the Pixies in their first go-round and I'm incredibly ambivalent about seeing them today. Not because I don't like them... I do very much. Sometimes seeing these get-back-togethers don't really have much appeal to people.

The Pixies are selling mp3 downloads ($11.99 - site claims 256kbps - but someone on the www.pixiesmusic.com forums said they were actually 320kbps for him) for the following recent tour dates:

- 09.30.04-Denver
- 10.01.04-Kansas City
- 10.02.04-Lincoln
- 10.04.04-Columbus
- 10.05.04-Columbia
- 10.06.04-Nashville
- 10.08.04-Tampa
- 10.10.04-Orlando
- 10.12.04-Birmingham
- 10.13.04-Atlanta
- 10.14.04-Atlanta
- 10.17.04-Houston
- 10.19.04-Grnd Prarie
- 10.20.04-Austin
- 10.22.04-Phoenix
- 10.23.04-Irvine
- 10.24.04-SantaBarbra

www.disclive.com will be selling the cds of the shows during their upcoming fall shows like they did back in the spring....not sure why they are doing it differently for different legs...anyways...off to get my Dallas (Grand Prarie) show as soon as I get home.

Damm, I was at Irvine, and recorded it (Pixies ARE taper-friendly) but would love CD quality SBD recording. I wonder if they will make Irvine available as a FLAC or SHN download instead of MP3. Disclive is only doing the fall tour :(

Chrisedge 11-18-04 12:17 PM

I just choked for the MP3's since I got word that they won't be doing Flac or SHN files. :( :)

Gunshy 11-18-04 09:24 PM

Anyone have an opinion as to which live show is the best to purchase from the list FrozenMetal posted? I would really rather have 1 or two difinitive shows than buy them all.

-Gunshy

FrozenMetalHead 11-19-04 08:43 AM

To qualify my statement...I went to the Dallas show...and I have only listened to the Dallas show (aka Grand Prairie). That being said, it's a great boot - seems to be a really good song selection...and people on the www.pixiesmusic.com forums seem to agree it was a really good show...I think I remember them saying the Austin (Stubb's) show was very good as well.
