RHCP new Greatest Hits

In a posting on the band's official Web site, bassist Flea revealed that the Chili Peppers will take two weeks off [Touring], then write and record two or three new songs for an upcoming greatest hits collection. The album is expected to collect material from the group's Warner Bros. releases, beginning with 1991's 4 million-selling "Blood Sugar Sex Magik."

why that album? And will this have the same songs (or most of the same) as the "what hits" collection.

What Hits? was from [EMI]... this is the WB stuff [B.S.S.M., One Hot Minute, Californication, and By The WAY] so NO songs from WHAT HITS?...plus Blood Sugar Sek magik is their Best Album, so I'll have the most from that, then Californication [there most popular] and so on...

At least they can put "Soul to Squeeze" from Coneheads Soundtrack. It's a Warner Movie.

Looking forward to this, I've never liked a whole RHCP album, so this fits the bill nicely for me. (Depending on the tracklist of course)

might also be a problem because it was done when dave was in the band, and the band seems to have blocked that era out of their memory... it'll be interesting to see if anything from OHM makes it to this album...

ugh. i hate GH cd's...

probably "My Friends" and "Aeroplane" could have a chance of making it.

Good to hear - if they start w/ Blood Sugar Sex Magik, there will be plenty of stellar material to go around (well, with the exception of One Hot Minute)

I didn't want to buy One Hot Minute, although I did like My Friends, so I will definitely pick this one up. The singles from By The Way are horrible, but at least, if the collection is in chronological order, they'll be at the end.

Chili Peppers Record 15 New Songs

While in the studio to record new tracks for a forthcoming hits collection, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have written and recorded 15 new songs, according to a post by bassist Flea on the band's official Web site.

The band had been working with producer Rick Rubin on the new tracks, and as previously reported, two or three songs were intended for "Greatest Hits," due Nov. 11 from Warner Bros. The album is expected to collect material from the group's Warner Bros. releases, beginning with 1991's "Blood Sugar Sex Magik." It is unknown what will become of the balance of the new recordings.

"We played a wide variety of music arranged into song format that is among the most diverse and dynamic good feeling s*** we have ever done," Flea wrote in the post. "It is the fastest we have ever recorded so much material ... I can't wait for y'all to hear it."

From mtv.com

If you're planning to include the DVD "Live at Slane" on your list to Santa this year, make sure you clarify which one, because U2 aren't the only ones who've been rocking down the walls of the Irish castle.

In August, the Red Hot Chili Peppers played a show there to more than 80,000 fans and a recording of the event will be released on DVD November 18, the same day the band issues a best-of LP with two new tracks.

The earliest songs on the DVD are "Power of Equality," "Give It Away" and "Under the Bridge" from the band's 1991 album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but most are from the Peppers' last two records, 1999's Californication and 2002's By the Way. Highlights include "Californication," "Scar Tissue," "Around the World," "Zephyr Song" and "Throw Away Your Television."

The Greatest Hits album takes over where the band's 1992 record What Hits!? left off (although a cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" from 1989's Mother's Milk appears on both). There's a sampling of tracks from 1991's Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication and By the Way, and one song from 1995's One Hot Minute, "My Friends," the only Chili Peppers album to feature guitarist Dave Navarro. Greatest Hits also includes the new songs "Fortune Faded" and "Save the Population," which the band recorded during its By the Way tour. Other songs recorded during those sessions might make the band's next studio album. The record also includes "Soul to Squeeze," which previously was only available on the "Coneheads" soundtrack.

Greatest Hits will be available in two formats. The first will be a single CD and the second will be a combination CD and DVD package. The DVD will be comprised of 15 videos including two that are previously unreleased in the U.S., "Road Trippin' " and "Universally Speaking." The DVD also includes interviews with bandmembers and video directors and behind-the-scenes footage of 2000's Californication tour.

Track list, according to band's spokesperson, for "Live at Slane" DVD:
By the Way
Scar Tissue
Around the World
Universally Speaking

...it has "By the Way" and "Universally Speaking"

It should not have "UNIVERSAL", it should have "Can't Stop" and "Zephyr Song"... again another group F _ _ K 's up another CD to DVD song choices [Like U2, their DVD was much better and COMPLETE]
