As far as The Postal Service goes, I think that "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" is the best song of the Gibbard/Tamborello collaboration, but "(This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan" outdoes the rest of that disc. That song is damn good. I don't have that Interpol EP, but I have heard "The Specialist" which is a good song, and I own the LP so I know the other 2 songs as well - "PDA" and "NYC", right? Anyway, I love all 3 songs. I've never followed Blur very closely - outside of a few great singles - but my friend bought Think Tank and says he likes it a whole hell of a lot. Maybe I'll borrow it one day, but it isn't a priority by any means.

Let's see... haven't heard any of fallow's live bootlegs (natch), but I think the ones that would interest me most are (in order): Miles/Coltrane, the Talking Heads, and Beck. The Pavement is probably too late in their career for me, and the Sonic Youth is too early (pre-Daydream Nation, right?).

And, can't go wrong with Tweedy and/or Wilco...

Like most of what SAShepard's listening to, particularly the FoW and BtS records. I do think the Rising is pretty overrated but realize not many share that opinion.

How is this? I heard a couple songs of this that suggested I might like it -- it sounded like sort of a Beck/They Might Be Giants hybrid (tuneful, with sarcastic lyrics).

I love both Josh Joplin Group discs. Useful Music (their debut) is a bit more experimental...more effects, etc. The Future that Was is a bit more straightforward and a bit more pop. The lyrics are great on both albums.

I'd highly recommend their stuff...based upon what you listen to, you'd probably really like them. They're one of the few bands that I get excited about nowadays.

The new Lilys album is spotty, but there are a few great tracks among the clunkers. Stevevt, what do you think?

Haven't heard the older Go-Betweens album, but I have Bright Yellow, Bright Orange and find it to be very catchy.

So what is up with The Blue Man Group? Is it worth listening to?

The Blue Man Group CD is ok, nothing spectacular. There are some tracks that are interesting, but if you've seen any of their shows you won't be surprised.

I like the first Blue Man Group CD a lot. The presence of guest vocalists on the new one is completely uninteresting to me.

Add Metallica's St. Anger. Releasing on the 5th (instead of next week) due to it being leaked onto the net the other day.

I caved in on my promise, "No new music until I land a job!" when I found Enon's High Society and REM's Murmur at decent prices in a record store almost an hour away. Oooh, if only the record stores around here would carry that, I wouldn't have broken myself.

But they are both great, so I can't complain too much.
