"Bennie and the Jets" by Elton John.

Highly repetitive, irritating falsetto, makes me cringe every time I hear it! What is the subject of this song anyway?

But The Night Chicago Died is one of the few rock songs to use a kazoo! But the worst pop song ever is Kiss Off (Goodbye) by Brooke Allison. A tasty sample:
This message will be brief
There's nothing much to tell
My heart is signing off
Direct from AOL
So simple and elegant
Don't ever ask me why
I've got just one thing to say to you
(In IM Voice)Goodbye

Later lyrics:
Oh yeah uh
Oh oh yeah yeah
Goodbye, goodbye
Whoa oh yeah yeah

I agree with some of the 70s stuff mentioned, but hard to beat a current crap tune that even "Alternative" stations are playing.

Picture - Kid Rock and Crow

Is that the worst guitar solo on record or what?! (Diff thread...)

Oh come on!

No one has mentioned the lyricists from LFO yet?!

Summer Girls:

New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick
And I think its fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch
I'd take her if I had one wish
But she's been gone since that summer...

Verse 1:

Hip Hop Marmalade Spic and Span
Met you one summer and it all began
You're the best girl that I ever did see
The great Larry Bird jersey 33
When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet
Billy Shakespeare wrote a whole bunch of sonnets
Call me Willy Whistle cuz I can't speak baby
Somethin in your eyes went and drove me crazy
Now I can't forget you and it makes me mad
Left one day and never came back
Stayed all summer the went back home
Macaulay Culkin was in Home Alone
Fell deep in love, but now we ain't speakin
Michael J. Fox was Alex P. Keaton
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch
~Chorus~

Verse 2:

Cherry Pez, Cold Crush, Rock, Stud, Boogie
Used to hate school, so I had to play hookie
Always been hip to the b-boy style
Known to act wild and make a girl smile
Love New Edition and the Candy Girl
Reminds me of you because you rock my world
You come from Georgia where the peaches grow
They drink lemonade and speak real slow
You love Hip Hop and Rock &Roll
Dad took off when you where 4 years old
There was a good man named Paul Revere
I feel much better baby when you're near
You love Fun Dip and Cherry Coke
I like the way you laugh when I tell a joke
When I met you I said my name is Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch
~Chorus~

Verse 3:

In the summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a Hip Hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I'll steal your honey like I stole your bike
Boogaloo Shrimp and Pogo sticks
My mind takes me back there, oh so quick
Let you off the hook like my man, Mr. Limpit
Think about that summer, and I bug cuz I miss it
Like the color Purple, Macaroni and cheese
Ruby red slippers, and a bunch of trees
Call you up but what's the use
I like Kevin Bacon, but i hate Foot Loose
Came in the door, I said it before
I think I'm over you, but I'm really not sure
When I met you I said my name is Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch

~Chorus~

Verse 4:

Summer girls come, and summer girls go
Some are worth while, and some are so so
Summer girls come, and summer girls go
Some are worth while, and some are so so
Summertime girls got it goin on
Shake and wiggle to a Hip Hop song
Summertime girls are the kind I like
I'll steal your honey, like I stole your bike

It's so... god... awful.

Say it with me, kids...

Come On Eileen.

Worst pop song, ever. (I mean the Dexy's Midnight Runner's version. The peppy ska Save Ferris go 'round is cool.)

How about "Key Largo" by Bertie Higgins? My wife loves this song and has it recorded on a cassette she insists on listening to all the time. Makes me want to scratch my eardrums out of my head using my own fingers.

I somehow managed to never listen to this song that entire summer, and when I got back to college and heard it for the first time, I wanted to puke. Thank goodness it was near the end of it's run, so the radio stations hardly ever played it again.

But I would add "Oops, I did it again" by Britney Spears. The most overhyped song ever.

I'd have to seriously consider Madonna's "Die Another Die" as the worst of all time.

"Run, Joey, Run" by David Geddes (his "Blindman in the Bleachers" also gets an honorable mention)

"Convoy" by CW McCall (which somehow inspired Peckinpah to make a film version).

"Daddy please don't, it wasn't his fault, he means so much to me..."

How about "How do you do" from Mouth and McNeil?

"How do you do? Unnh-huh...I though you said phenomina"

or something like that....yeeech...early 70s top 40 is the worst...

Ok, I am not sure of the exact song title, but It is something like "I Know What Boys Like" You remember....

I know what boys like
I know what guys want
I know what boys like
I got what boys like

I know what boys like
I know what guys want
I see them looking
I make them want me
I like to tease them
They want to touch me
I never let them

I know what boys like
I know what guys want
I know what boys like
boys like
boys like
Me

And on it goes. I just think it was a God awful song. Jmo.

It's by the Waitresses and I love that song. It's a sarcastic classic.
