Did the Foo Fighters ever cover Stairway to Heaven?

Someone told me that they have seen a version that they did on one of the late shows and the main highlight is Dave Groulh humming the solo as he is doing the regular chords for the solo. Does this actually exist.

Yeah...that was on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, I believe. A friend of mine put it on a CD for me. The quality is terrible and the song itself is even worse. Groulh doesn't even try...it's almost as if he's making fun of the song.

What's better are the Rugburns' cover of that song. (Steve Poltz does it too).

They play the music to "Stairway To Heaven" and sings the song with the lyrics to Gilligan's Island! You know what? It fits!

Ahh, I was wondering where that was performed. I agree with you Spike, it seems as though Grohl doesn't even try.

The songs that Grohl regularly "sings" on late shows are done so tongue in cheek. He is making fun of them. You've got to hear 'With Arms Wide Open'. It's all just for fun.

I liked when he did Tine Dancer
