I did a search for Butthole Surfers and saw this poor, lonely thread no one replied to...

I saw these guys play on Fri night and I was pretty damn impressed with their skills as musicians and performers. Great live show - lots of video featuring weird/creepy/disturbing/horror footage, strobe lights, bizarre antics. Nothing like their days of old, but a lot of damn fun. Gibby looks surprisingly good considering he's in his 50s and has consumed unknown quantities of drugs. Ditto for Paul Leary.

I'd love to see them again. I saw them at Lollapalooza 91 (when they had to change their advertising to "BH Surfers") then another time when STP opened for them. I've always enjoyed them, and their last few albums have gotten even better (IMHO) since they're a little more listenable, although of course I have a soft spot for classics like Human Cannonball. As you say, a great show then and I'm sure a great show now.
I'm still mad that they played some little venue in my college town about three months before I got there, that would have been awesome.
Sadly, not only am I on the east coast, I'm in NC, which is passed over by hundreds of acts of all sizes.
