The Donnas "Spend The Night", 2 rewiews - with cowbell!!!

Was just surfing the net, looking for some rewiews and stumbled upon these two. Just thought I had to share it:

from Boombox.com:
Around 2 or 3 tracks into the new Donnas album "Spend the Night" one hears a cowbell. My ear pricks up; as I've recently listened to the hysterical 7 minute song "Seventies Rock Must Die" by Lard that features a cowbell keeping time throughout. But wait... this cowbell isn't ironic...

from Metal-sludge.com:
Songs: 9 Hot Drummer Chicks out of 10.
The production on this CD is the best out of all their CDs and the single "Take It Off" is one of those songs you can listen to over and over again like a ******* retard. Other songs I gain pleasure by listening to include but are not limited to "Too Bad About Your Girl," "It's On The Rocks," "Please Don't Tease." and "Dirty Denim." You also have to love that the cowbell hasn't been used this much on a CD since Motley Crue's "Too Fast For Love." I appriecate a good cowbell. More bands like Disturbed or Staind should use a cowbell. Just my advice.

I love The Donnas! These gals play good old fashioned rock and roll. Donna C loves her cowbell :)

I think the album is fantastic myself. Very impressive rock music by the girls.

It's good to see women playing Ac/Dc stylish rock which we don't see much.

Amazing rockin' band. Best album of 2002.

Just take note that the free DVD is probably gone from all of the stores. Hopefully that reviewer will update his info soon. :p

The DVD is cool. Fun to see Donna F. throw Andy Dick into a hot tub :)

the only prescription is more cowbell.

It is not the cure.

Am still lost about the whole cowbell thing. What the hell does that mean in the first place?

It's a reference to a SNL skit from a few years back...it was spoof on "Behind the Music", with Blue Oyster Cult. One of the band members, a Cowbell player, was annoying the rest of the band, but the producer, Christopher Walken, loved it, and kept on asking for more Cowbell, much to the chagrin of the rest of the band.

I'm sure it's one of those "you have to see it to get it" things.

I think i saw that SNL skit..but while funny i never used it in my daily life:)

So once i forgot all about it & keep hearing people use it in a joke. I'm totally lost..& they make it seem like it's a sex reference now which makes it even more confusing & bizzare.
