emusic is now 192 VBR!
 

i know some people were holding out on emusic because of the 128 kbs mp3s. today they upgraded them all to an average of 192 VBR files. they sound fantastic!

i highly reccomend it to everyone that was holding out.

Warning: EMusic has been having quite a few technical problems that are currently making it difficult to download MP3s. I would recommend waiting a few weeks until they have things worked out.

Good to hear. That was one of my concerns. Also, they aren't actually mp3 format, are they?

Any idea on when they will cater to non mac users?

They are actually MP3s, but you have to download the EMusic Download Manager to get any music at all. I'm still having some minor problems getting music with my PC, but the situation has improved greatly in the last day or two. The VBR MP3s do sound much better, too.
