Dance/Club recommendations

One of the areas lacking from my music collection is dance/club type stuff. Here are a few songs I like that fit this genre:

Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone
DJ Sammy & Yanou - Heaven
Gigi D'Agostino - I'll Fly With You
Lasgo - Something

What other songs can you recommend that I might like. The ones I listed all have female vocals but that's not a requirement.

Thanks for the help!

Their first release. Do You Like My Tight Sweater? wasn't import-only.

I have to say for this type of stuff you're usually better off getting DJ mixes or sets. I really enjoy Tall Paul's Mixed Live sessions. I have the first two: LA and Miami. I believe they come with a 5.1 DVD as well, although I only put it in once.

That would be Born Slippy

I'd also recommend these Underworld songs:

Cowgirl
Dark Train
Push Upstairs
King of Snake

true.

Roison Murphy's two solo albums are also quite good

OP - a lot of the stuff you listed is pure fluffy cheese. i am not knocking it necessarily as everything has it's place.

leepyswetr gave a few earlier recommendations that is in line with the original style and then made some later ones that may be the next step in trying out some good dance music.

if you like the stuff you listed pick up any Louis Devito cd or a WKTU compilation and you will get something similar.

Fatboy Slim - Big Beach Boutique 2 is a great cd/dvd that has some commercialness to it but lays off the fluff (mostly).

Female Vocals you may like:
Perasma - Swing to Harmony
Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes (Sweeping Strings Remix)
Andain - Beautiful Things
Andain - Here is the House (Depeche Mode Remake)
Lustral - Everytime (Nalin and Kane Mix)
4 Strings - Take Me Away
Rank 1 - Breathing (B1 Breaks Mix)
Kate Bush - Running Up the Hill (Infusion Mix)
Chris Lake - Changes (Vocal Mix)
Circ - Destroy She Said (DeDonatis Remix)
Corderoy - Sweetest Dreams
Jase from Outta Space - Do What You Want (Infusion Mix)
Shapeshifters - Lolas Theme
Deep Dish - Flashdance
Deep Dish - Say Hello

You also may like some popular Remixes:
Sarah Maclaughlin (every damn song is remixed)
Dido - Black Flag (beginnerz Remix)
Dido - Sand in My Shoes (Steve Lawler Remix)
Avril Levigne - With You (Breaks Mix)
Technotronic - Get Up (Global Deejays General Electric Mix)
Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart (Max Graham Mix)
Audio Bullys - Bang Bang
Ace of Base - Cruel Summer (Mannels 4am Remix OR Breaks Mix)

Most dance music is. Aphex Twin isn't cheese, but it's hard to dance to. And there's only so many bands that can combine both.

I couldn't listen to this music if I'm working or at home. But if I'm working out or dancing, then it's fine.

No Way!

I think it is similar to most other genres of music. There are certain sub-genres like commercial house that I just can't even listen to and then there are much more progressive sub-genres are a definitely more underground.

I find Euro-house to be reaaaal cheezy - ugh, ack!

superdeluxe 04-14-08 03:40 PM

Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Mix).

Thank me later.

Kyau and Albert, Above and Beyond, really have nice female vocal mixes.

A lot of house I find to be cheesy. Usually if they use a soul/gospel type singer it never ends well. Not that those vocalists suck, it's just that they usually take on these Christina Aguilera / American Idol affectations where they try to overpower the music. It never works for me.

I still want to go to a Dan Deacon show, preferably in Baltimore.

He's playing a show this Thursday but it's in NY. :(
