I was literally just listening to that.

Some of my favorites:

Catherine Wheel, "Wish You Were Here" (Pink Floyd)
Nonpoint, "In the Air Tonight" (Phil Collins)
Rage Against the Machine, "Pistol Grip Pump" (Volume 10)
Sonic Youth, "Superstar" (The Carpenters)
The Church, "The Popoise Song" (Monkees)
Faces, "Maybe I'm Amazed" (McCartney)

I can't believe no one said the true worst remake ever:

Artist : The Used & My Chemical Romance Song : Under Pressure.

Originally performed by queen and david bowie.

I SWORE ON MY LIFE I WOULD NEVER EVER LISTEN TO THAT REMAKE EVER AGAIN. Just once made me sick to my stomach. I endured the whole thing just so I can close the book on it forever.

Edit: probably cuz this thread is 2 years old.

I'm loving Disturbed's take on Land of Confusion right now.

Re: Best and Worst Cover Songs

This song somehow popped up on my car's stereo last night (it uses a Pandora-like algorithm of songs like songs you like). I knew immediately it was god-awful but it took like three lines of lyrics before I realized what song it was actually supposed to be. One of the worst covers I have ever heard. I thought it was so terrible, it deserved an 11-year bump of this thread :

Re: Best and Worst Cover Songs

Pretty bad.

Comments section is funny. Some people loved it; others not so much.

at this one:

"As much as I am a fan of maiden, I prefer the original version. Bruce is singing this so high he sounds like someone is squeezing his nuts."

Weird seeing this, because this song popped into my head the other day. Not sure why.

If you take into consideration the source, yeah, it's a pretty harsh departure, but I've never thought it was completely horrible, just...different. Dennis DeYoung has never been one you think of when you think of "rock", but this is about as close as a reimagining from him is going to get.

That's sad and funny. Not only is it a compendium of all the bad ideas of 80s rock, but it takes a song about seduction and drains the sexuality from it.

Not if you imagine him singing it in a fedora and using jazz hands.

Re: Best and Worst Cover Songs

Canada's own Streetheart did excellent cover versions of Under My Thumb (Rolling Stones), Here Comes The Night (Them), and Tin Soldier (Small Faces) back in the late 70s & early 80s. Each of them better than the original, IMO ...

RIP, Kenny Shields ...
