KISS !!!
Between the over 30 offical albums, the many solo albums from various members, bootlegs, and CD singles, I have nearly 100 KISS CDs... add to that about 20 KISS Tribute CDs from all over the world, but I don't know if that counts because it's other bands doing KISS songs and not KISS themselves.
I also have a collection of about 6-700 Glam Metal / Hair Rock CDs everything from the popular bands like Dokken, Warrant and Ratt to Sleeze Beez, Trouble Tribe, Jet Red and Kik Tracee.
DIE, GRUNGE, DIE!!!!

One word: Bowie.
I even have artists in my collection just because Bowie may have been friends with them at one time including Iggy Pop, Lou Reed (mostly Velvet Underground), and Mott the Hoople.
Anyway, here's the obligatory list:
Space Oddity
The Man Who Sold the World
Hunky Dory
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars
Aladdin Sane
Pin Ups
Diamond Dogs
Young Americans
Station to Station
Low
Heroes
Lodger
Scary Monsters
Let's Dance
Tonight
Never Let Me Down
Outside
Hours
Earthling
Heathen
Black Tie White Noise
Tin Machine I and II
Sound and Vision (4 cd set)
Bowie at the Beeb (3 cd set)
Labyrinth Soundtrack
Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence soundtrack (though he had nothing to do with the music)
RarestOneBowie
Real Cool World
Assorted bootlegs and early recordings
Assorted concerts
and of course, all the DVDs I can lay hands on.
By the way, I can't watch The Last Temptation of Christ because I keep expecting Bowie to break out in Michael Palin's speech impediment from The Life of Brian.

I'm not going to count, but I have more than 20 by Sinatra, Miles Davis, Elvis Costello, and Bob Dylan. I also have everything The Beatles released during their career, but I don't have all the subsequent compilations, or all the anthologies.
Most of the bands I really like seem to have crashed and burned after just a few albums. Joy Division is a perfect example, as are the Stone Roses.

What single artist do you own the MOST CDs of?
Of your collection, who represents the highest? Single acts, that is, not counting various offshoots and so forth.
In my collection, the winner is David Bowie, with a total of 29 CDs, followed by The Beatles with 22. If I counted various McCartney, Lennon, Harrison solo CDs the Beatles would edge ahead though. I counted double CD sets like The White Album and Bowie's Stage as two CDs or however many each.
Yes, you can tell I'm into old music and think nothing decent has been recorded since 1982 or so
How about you? Who and how many?

DVD Talk Godfather
Dream Theater - probably 20+ albums/singles + 100+ bootleg concerts(2 CDs or more per show) plus another 20+ for spin off groups and side projects.
After that:
Billy Joel - 22
Pearl Jam - 18
Led Zeppelin - 13

R.E.M. (14) and for me singles, unofficial lives, bootlegs, etc. do not count. . . . only offical full-length albums. I wouldn't even classify R.E.M. as my favorite band by any means but their longevity and relevance to my ever changing and expanding musical tastes is impressive. I love some other bands but just the fact that they've managed to release dozens/hundreds of official or unofficial CDs means absolutely nothing.
