Boo Radleys

Did anyone else dig these guys in the 90's? I was listening to the latest Doves disc and there's a song on it that strongly reminds me of the Boo Radleys. Underlooked band. "Everything's Alright Forever" is my fave with the tiny song "Sparrow" being one of the most gorgeous and interesting songs I've ever heard. Sometimes I felt they were trying too hard to be clever, but when it clicked, it clicked in a big way.

"giant steps" and "wake up!" still sound great. The Boo Radleys, Swervedriver, Ride, Curve and other creation records/dreampop bands... that scene doesn't get enough credit. IMO, it produced better, more innovative music than the grunge stuff happening here in the US at that time.

If you like the Boo Radleys, buy:

My Bloody Valentine: "Loveless", "Isn't Anything" and the EPs (if you can find them)
Swervedriver: "Mezcal Head" and "Ejection Seat Reservation"
Ride: "Nowhere" and "Going Blank Again"
Curve: "Doppleganger"
Chapterhouse: "Whirlpool"
Loop: "A Guilded Eternity"
Spacemen 3: "Playing With Fire"

...they're all great albums.

Oh yeah, that stuff is light years better than what else what out there at the time.

Yep, big fan of 'em. Not surprisingly I seem to be posting in the same threads as atlantamoi and Hiro11 a lot...

wendersfan, ya gave me a laugh. You've got good taste. Of course, when people say that they usually mean you have the SAME taste!

I was really into these guys as well. "Wake Up" is a such a fun uplifting song that you can rock out to.

They broke up, didn't they?

Hiro11- if you like My Bloody Valentine and Ride check out Lush and Slowdive. Two grossly overlooked acts of the 90s.

Buford T Pusser 03-28-03 10:50 PM

Yep. I have all their stuff!

any of you Boo fans have the album: "Learning to Walk"... any good?

Really like Martin's latest two albums under the psuedonym BRAVE CAPTAIN.
