What is up with the new Police remasters?

I went to Borders recently, and purchased Ghost In the Machine and I thought that it was a SACD hybrid like Every Breath You Take, but it turns out that it is just a newly remastered cd in a digipak. While I think that it sounds and looks great, it made me wonder why they didn't just make all the new remasters hybrid SACDs. I mean, it probably would have cost the same amount as producing all the remastered CDs and remasterd SACDs. Does anyone have any insight?

No real insight here, but I saw an ad for the CDs in the new issue of Blender (which arrived today) and noticed that all of the limited editions are digipaks. Ugh, why do they do this?

I waited a while on the Peter Gabriel reissues so I wouldn't have to get those limited edition digipaks. I'd much rather have a jewel case, which isn't going to get all torn up (and is replaceable if it gets broken), thank you.*

Not to hijack your thread or anything. I've been meaning to pick up the Police box set for years now since I don't own any of their discs (just a cassette or two and some vinyl). It'd probably be cheaper in the long run than buying all of their studio albums separately (plus I'd get the extra stuff).

*I guess I shouldn't be so quick to shake my head at all of those amaray v. snapper v. whatever else threads in the DVDTalk forum, since this is essentially the same thing, only for music geeks.

The problem with the Message In A Bottle Box you speak of is that rather than packaging the albums with a bonus disc of outtakes and live tracks they put as many tracks as they could fit onto each cd. So rather than getting the album in it's original form you get a bunch of tracks in a quasi order.
