From www.billboard.com Award Fuels Simon & Garfunkel Reunion Speculation

News that Simon & Garfunkel will be honored Sunday (Feb. 23) with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the Grammy Awards has sparked rumors of a reunion of the famed duo. Unfortunately for fans, representatives of the individual artists issued a joint statement to scuttle talk of a possible tour.

"Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel are looking forward to receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at this weekend's ceremonies," the statement reads. "Despite speculation that there is a reunion tour in the works, there have been no discussions -- either with their respective managers or with Paul and Art themselves -- about a tour. They're proud to be back at the Grammy's and are focusing on the joy of being bestowed such an honor."

Reports suggest the pair is pondering performing at the Grammys and even rehearsed earlier this week. But at deadline, there was no confirmation of their plans. According to Entertainment Tonight, they are performing Sounds of Silence.

Yesterday (Feb. 20), London's Evening Standard reported that negotiations were underway between the duo and its representatives for an extended world trek. The story went as far to say that a proposed split of profits in Simon's favor was a stumbling block to sealing reunion plans.

After teaming up as schoolmates in the late 1950s, Simon & Garfunkel found worldwide success with their folk rock sound before going their separate ways in 1970. They teamed up again for at 1975 single, "My Little Town," and reunited in 1981 for a massive concert in New York's Central Park. Later in the decade they toured together, but a plans for a new Simon & Garfunkel album never panned out. Last year, the group's recorded output was reissued in expanded editions by Columbia/Legacy.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has been added to the Joe Strummer/Clash tribute performance slated for Sunday's (Feb. 23) Grammy Awards ceremony. As previously reported, Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt, and No Doubt's Tony Kanal will all take part. According to a spokesperson, Grohl will play guitar and trade vocals with Springsteen and Costello on a version of the Clash's "London Calling."

In other Grammy news, Philadelphia-based rap act the Roots will join previously announced performer Eminem on a performance of "Lose Yourself," and Kid Rock will be on hand to perform with Sheryl Crow. Newly confirmed presenters are Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst, Kylie Minogue, Ja Rule, and actors Joe Pantoliano and Kim Catrall.

The grammy's should have ended right after S*G, it would have been the best show ever.

Still wanted to hear Scarbourgh Fair.
