a few archive recommendations:

Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra - rhythmic afrobeat music with funk and salsa influences and a touch of politics
Assembly of Dust - Dave Matthews-esque pop-rock, tight band, excellent songwriting
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - unconventional banjo jazz
Charlie Hunter - Eight-string jazz guitar
Derek Trucks Band - slide guitar with Allman Brothers and jazz influences
Disco Biscuits - trance/prog/jam-rock, excellent, but not real "accessible"
Eddie from Ohio - folkin' good music
Garaj A Trois - features Charlie Hunter, ecletic/experimental jazz trio
Hayseed Dixie - bluegrass band does AC-DC
Keller Williams - one-man folkster loaded with high-tech toys, influenced by Michael Hedges and the Grateful Dead
Leftover Salmon - cajun polyethnic slamgrass
New Monsoon - jam rock with tablas thrown in
Railroad Earth - bluegrass/rock, great songwriting, excellent vocals
Robert Randolph - pedal steel revival-rock
Steve Kimock/KVHW - instrumental rock, "lighter than air" guitar
Tenacious D - Spinal Tap
Umphree's McGee - multi-genre jam band
Yonder Mountain String Band - the band name says it all

I've been downloading off the archive for a while. i don't know what i have to do to get all of you into Umphrey's McGee but please give it a try, you will convert. try the 12/11/04 show from the 930 club for a rocking good time and a few cool covers (talking heads, pink floyd, spinal tap) or check the 10/30/04 show, which has their halloween jam that is one of the funniest things i've ever heard (all based around the theme for the evening of celebrity criminals).
also if you wanted a moe. suggestion, you can't go wrong with 6/22/02 from Bonnaroo. this show was named the best show of the year at the Jammys that year.

This thread is due for a bump. I just downloaded a show from The Animal Liberation Orchestra after downloading a show they did with Jack Johnson. The ALO show can be found here. Anyone else into ALO that can reccomend some other ALO shows I should download? Preferably shows that have a VBR version as I'm on dial-up and waiting 8 hours to download is better than 8 days.

Did I miss something along the way about Archive.org? I can't find ANY of the band listings anymore, and I'm not sure if everything's been taken down.

Is this a user error on my part, or is the Live Music Archive no longer available?

If you scroll down to the forum postings, there are several discussions about errors. It seems something is wrong with the database.

You can still get a search to complete once in a while.
