Feel free to critique away. Ever since Dennis DeYoung left, this band sounds better than ever

Tommy Shaw
James JY Young
Glen Burtnick - replaced Chuck Panozzo at bass
Todd Sucherman - replaced John Panozzo when he died
Larry Gowan - replaced Dennis Deyoung

The great thing about this lineup is they have been together since 1999 and rock a great deal more than with the original lineup.

Here is another link where you can catch the entire album from an AOL listening party. I do not have AOL and have been able to link successfully each time.

Look for the link on the left-hand side / middle of the page

It is an eclectic mix of music, but stays very true to their original sounds. They are touring with Kansas or REO Speedwagon during the winter. There is no official summer tour co-headliner yet. I saw them in Louisville last night and it was great! They've added a 9 minute collage of songs that don't usually make it into the show, ranging from songs from Equinox all the way to Kilroy Was Here.

Let me know what you think of this. The guest appearances by Billy Bob Thornton and Tenacious D are unique to say the least!

My sister's ex-boyfriend (in the late 70s) said that Styx had played for his high school's Junior Prom (when he was a freshman or sophmore in Hinsdale, Illinois); so that would have been in the late 60s or so. That would have been cool.

THAT could be true. the did form out of chicago in the late 60's and released the first album around '72.

james young is the only origional member of the band still in the band.

tommy shaw came in around 76 for the album CRYSTAL BALL.

HE replaced origional lead singer john curulewski. (sadly, Curulewski would pass away from an aneurysm in 1988).

the first album actually has a song on it written by george clinton.
although i can't confirm that it was THE george clinton of the P-Funk All-Stars fame.

I heard Brian Wilson is on a track or two. Anyone know which one(s)?
