What ever happened to the LIGHTNING SEEDS?
Even though their last album "Tilt" was released in 1999, they seemed to have recently dropped off the face of the earth. Any fans know if another album is planned in the near future?

Cool. I really like the song "All I Want". I believe there is a single version with more background vocals near the end of the song that is different from the album version (or I'm going senile).

The Lightning Seeds are a great little band. I've loved their music since "Cloudcuckooland". Their last two albums ("Greatest Hits" and "Tilt") were never released in the U.S. But well worth the purchase on amazon.co.uk. No, I don't work for them or the LS. I just think any U.S. fan should know where to get their music. Like me. Last I heard, Ian put the band on hold indefinitely (according to one of their websites). But I wouldn't be surprised if the Seeds resurfaced at some point. I think the highlight of their career was definitely "Jollification". Quite possibly the best modern rock "pop" album of the 90's. IMO.

Okay, this thread spurred me on to looking at their post-"Sense" work and I'm intrigued (that means this is a good thread!). The reason I didn't search for their recordings after 1992 was because I thought their first 2 discs were filled with 3 or 4 incredible songs and then a bit of filler. I'm wondering if I'd be better off looking into their hits collection even though I have a bunch of those songs. allmusic.com give "Jollification" a very good review. Might check ebay for that.

Dizzy Heights is a fantastic album.

"Jollification" had the most hit singles in the U.K. And an interesting story behind that album. It was first released along it's first single and both did mediorce at best on the charts. But they re-released the single (which I believe was used in a popular commercial) and both took off. And "Jollification" went on to get nominated for album of the year at the British Music Awards. You can't go wrong with this album. And the song with Alison Moyet is SUPERB!!!!!!

Cool, thanks. I noticed that there is an import set of Jollification/Dizzy Heights, but it's 2 CD's together (not one disc to save bucks). I'm going to buy Jolly.

If you want a couple of other bands by the same guys, try The Wild Swans, and The Care. Essentially, these two bands are The Lightening Seeds under a different name.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I won an ebay auction that paired Jollification with Sense for about $8. What a steal.
While I was vacationing in New Orleans this week I saw a commercial for bottled water (Aquafina?) that used re-made version "Pure." It sounded great, less electronics than the originals. Although I only heard it once, I swear the vocals were Ian Broudie's, but I could be wrong. Anyone see this commercial? And is this version commercially available?

Their name came from a misinterpretation of the line in Prince's "Raspberry Beret".
It was thought that the line went, "thunder only hides what the lightning seeds" when, in fact, the line goes, "thunder only hides what the lightning sees".
I don't really know much about the band other that that tune "The Life of Riley" Anyway, I just wanted my five points.
