New Fleetwood Mac album April 15, plus tour
I don't know how good their new material will be (or how much Christine's absence will detract) but it's nice to anticipate them back out there. Buckingham is still a control-freak-genius in the studio and a great guitar player even if he can't belt them out like he used to.

Fleetwood Mac has set an April 15 release date for its first studio album of all-new material in more than a decade, and plans to open a tour in May, according to Reprise Records.
The as-yet-untitled album is the band's first since the departure of keyboardist/vocalist Christine McVie. Fleetwood Mac's previous release was 1997's "The Dance," which combined re-workings of some of the band's old material with a few new tracks.
Fleetwood Mac's most-recent studio album of new material was 1990's "Behind the Mask," but it did not feature core member Lindsay Buckingham. Buckingham produced the forthcoming album.
According to Reprise, a track from the new album, "Say You Will," can be heard during a promo for "That '70s Show" that is currently airing on the Fox network.
Details of the tour haven't been announced, but should surface as the album's release date nears.

If Buckingham had complete creative control over this album then I'd be interested in hearing it. But it's been 20 years since they released anything worth buying so I don't hold up hopes. I did like the solo material Buckingham released. I will always have a little hope that we can hear some of the cool songs Buckingham wrote for Tusk.

Ahhh! So that's the song I heard on that commercial (for "That 70's Show"). I backed up my Tivo twice to hear it again because I thought it might be Fleetwood Mac. But I have everything they've done and didn't recognize the song. Thought maybe it was some rare b-side song that never made the box set or something. Either that or a FM wannabe band. It definitely sounded like vintage Fleetwood Mac. Which is probably why the show uses it. Sounds good. Can't wait to hear the rest!!!

I think I heard (what I am pretty sure is) the first single today, and wow, was I suprised. They are not just covering old ground...for a second I thought I had actually tuned into the modern rock station and caught something good. Maybe Christine's absence has made them more adventurous...

I saw FM on the Dance tour a few years ago in Memphis about four shows before Christine bugged out on the band. It was worth the $65 a ticket and then some. To me, if it's not the Rumours lineup, it's a letdown.

By the track titles (and artwork) alone, I'd say the album will be 'edgier' than anything they've done in years. And hopefully that's a good thing.

A limited-edition version featuring special packaging is also available.
DISC 2
1. Not Make Believe (previously unreleased Stevie Nicks' song)
2. Love Minus Zero/No Limit (cover of Bob Dylan song)
3. Peacekeeper (live from AOL Sessions, 2/28/03)
4. Say You Will (live from AOL Sessions, 2/28/03)
The Bonus CD will also contain Enhanced Material with the Live Video Clips of "Peacekeeper" and "Say You Will" from AOL Sessions.
The special packaging is going to be a very elaborate book style package:
- A special hard bound Book Type Package
- 2 Discs in pockets
- Special paperwrap, embossed and foil stamped
- Fold out panoramic studio shot inside
- Mini poster inserted into back of book.
Say You Will is Fleetwood Mac's first all-original album featuring both Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham since 1987's triple-platinum Tango in the Night and their first album of any kind since 1997's No. 1 The Dance. Joining Nicks, Buckingham, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood on the album are Sheryl Crow and Christine McVie, among others. Look for the band to perform the single "Peacekeeper" and other new tracks on NBC's Today show on April 18th.

I beg to differ with the poster who said
I have DVD disc "The Dance" and Christine
has been a favorite of mine for decades.
My beef is the poster that said no new songs for a decade. Lindsey Buckinghams Bleeding My Love song was a new song not a re-worked song.
I have all of their albums on CD plus 2 DVD discs of Fleetwood Mac including discs of the band going back before Lindsey and Stevie even came to FM. I have the Vhs of Stevie Nicks at the Red Rocks with guest Mick Fleetwood. I also have a video of FM practicing "Tusk" with Stevie ET Al in their band outfits. On of the Rumors disc Stevie smoking marijuana talks about why she couldn't have a child, and be away from the band for 2 years.

For those with Real Player, here's a link to a recorded performance of the single "Peacekeeper" (only suggested for high-speed connections):

Picked up the regular edition at a local Wal-Mart this morning for $9.84. They didn't seem to have any copies of the limited edition, so I'll probably head to Circuit City for that one.
