Some people may have heard of this band, but I'm going to add it anyway...

1. Les Savy Fav
2. Type: post-punk
3. Sound: high energy dance-able rock
4. I believe they met in Rhode Island but established themselves in Brooklyn. As far as recordings goes, I only own 3/5, their debut album, but I've heard that ROME (Written Upside Down) EP is incredible. But if they ever come through your town, you HAVE to go see this band. Its the most insane live show I've ever seen. I saw them at JMU (in VA), and the singer was doing ballet moves onstage and running around in the audience. They even showed people from the crowd how to play their individual parts in this long, closing drone and the band members went dancing on the floor. As far as experience and feeling like you are actually part of the show, Les Savy Fav floors every other contemporary band.

And one more...

1. Do Make Say Think
2. Type: instrumental post-rock
3. Sound: loads of sonic depth and texture
4. Buy & Yet & Yet NOW. Or download songs such as "Reitschule", "Classic Noodlanding", or "End Of Music"

Gdrlv, Out of the descriptions I've seen you give of your tastes, I think you would really enjoy this band. They are labelmates of Godspeed You! Black Emperor and I saw them play with Fly Pan Am (has a member of GY!BE in it) last October.

<ol><li>Apartment 26<li>Rock/techno-metal?<li><i><font color=green>"likely to be lumped in with bands like MACHINE HEAD, FEAR FACTORY and NINE INCH NAILS, and for appearance's sake ORGY"</font></i><li>Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler's son, Biff, is a founder member and vocalist. Now working on their second album, the first was called "Hallucinating" (producer: Ulrich Wild).</li></ol>

1. Cave In
2. Rock
3. Heavily influenced by Failure
4. They have a new album coming out in March. Bottom Feeder is a great song.

Jackskeleton 01-28-03 03:30 AM

Shouldn't we NOT name the bands.. I mean , cause if we do.. they will just be mainstreamd and we will just have to hate them huh.... ;)

Mutley Hyde 01-28-03 03:41 AM

1. The Exploding White Mice
2. punk rawk
3. The Ramones, Jesus and Mary Chain (Psycho Candy era)
4. They're Australian, and I got a cassette ep, "Nestful of Vipers" back in like, '87. There was a rockin' cover of Pipeline on it, and they were all pretty catchy tunes (for me anyway). I never saw any of there other releases, never saw any cover on them from the music mags or anywhere. It'd be cool to finally track down some of their other stuff and give it a listen.

Snowmaker 01-28-03 06:23 AM

If all these are unknown bands, then wouldn't they not be posted because nobody knows about them? :hscratch:

Theses bands are unknown to the masses.
You won't find them on your MTV, Vh1 or even your local Clear Channel Radio Station.

Also, I my opinion the music mentioned in this thread is about 10 times better than the crap manufactured and forced down everyone's throat.

Tarantino 01-28-03 12:04 PM

Yeah, that was the thought when creating the post.
