The selections highlighted in bold are who I think is going to win. The selections italized are who I want to win.

If I didn't do this for a category, I don't care who gets it or had no opinion. [Or in the case of Best New Artist, I hope both Avril & Ashanti tie that way neither is heard from again.]

OK, so that's pretty funny.

And yes, I am aware that she wasn't on all of those songs. It just seems like it.

Vanessa Carlton is up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, yet somehow isn't good enough for Best New Artist? That doesn't make any sense.

Jimmy Fallon over Lewis Black for Best Comedy Album- W T F ?

Nelly for Album of the Year? Are these the real nominations?

Also, I see Wilco didn't get any nominations for Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo!

I'm surprised that Bowling for Soup got nominated, since radio didn't play them, and MTV didn't support them, but I am glad for the nomination. I'd vote for them over the garbage thats on this list now.

Why god, why. That song sucks big time, and the song didn't even make the top 50 on the charts.

Hella Good imo, is not a Dance song

I'm hoping Norah Jones and Eminem take home a couple of awards.

I think that's a pretty good bet.

Although I wouldn't be surprised to Vanessa Carlton walk off with Record of the Year for "A Thousand Miles."

not to rain on the parade, but does anybody really care about these pompous, commercial awards? lets just say Sheryl crow will win again...why, I have no idea, but she's bland, poppy and sells a lot and that's all that matters...it's populous fluff disseminated by corporate radio and television...

Someone remind me how Walk On, a song released over 2 years ago, is eligible?

Also, what is the difference between Record of the Year and Song of the Year?

Also, oh nevermind...

According to the Grammy site:

Record Of The Year : Award to the Artist and to the Producer(s), Recording Engineer(s) and/or Mixer(s), if other than the artist.

Song Of The Year : A Songwriter(s) Award. A song is eligible if it was first released or if it first achieved prominence during the Eligibility Year. (Artist names appear in parenthesis.) Singles or Tracks only.

As for U2's "Walk On"...that and the Stevie Wonder/Take 6 track were both from the 9/11 Tribute album released last year.

Not that the Grammy site is wrong... Record of the Year is an award for what you actually hear on the radio (or the internet, music companies be d*mned); Song of the Year is (like the Grammy site says) is for the songwriter. I know the analogy is a poor one, but I sort of think of Song of the Year like "Best Screenplay".

Of course, whether Grammy voters have any clue to the distinction (or even care) is another matter entirely.
