Live Phish Downloads

Ok, this is pretty cool - it still sucks to miss NYE but at least I have a chance of hearing it soon afterward (and in really, really good quality).

We want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a peaceful holiday season -- 2003 is shaping up to be a big year and we look forward to seeing you!

LIVE PHISH DOWNLOADS LAUNCHES AT LIVEPHISH.COM

We're proud to anounce the debut of LIVE PHISH DOWNLOADS, a whole new way to listen to live Phish. A natural extension of the popular Live Phish CD program, Live Phish Downloads offers high quality, unedited soundboard recordings of select shows in the form of MP3 and Shorten digital music files via a state-of-the-art delivery system. All four of the upcoming New Year's shows will be available via Live Phish Downloads, no later than two days after each show. The NYE run is available now for pre-order, either a la carte or as a package for a special discounted price.

To celebrate the launch of this service, Phish's 10/7/00 Shoreline Amphitheater concert is available for free MP3 download between now and January 1. In addition to adding a great show to your collection, it's also a chance for you to test drive the system. Once you register you can choose to be notified by email each time a new show is available for download.

All download files are compatible with Windows, Mac and Unix operating systems, allowing for maximum flexibility and ease of use. Once downloaded, shows can be burned to disc, transferred to portable players, or played through your computer. Each show also comes with printable booklets, inlay trays, and labels if you elect to burn your files to CD.

Live Phish Downloads is a work in progress - we welcome and encourage feedback. We plan to offer both new and archival shows throughout 2003, including some or all of Phish's February 2003 tour - stay tuned for more announcements in the coming weeks.

PUTTING THE OM IN COMMUNITY

As most of you are probably well aware, both the NYE Run and the February Tour are completely sold-out. If you don't have tickets to a particular show, we ask that you please refrain from going to the venue in hopes of getting one. Even if no ticketless fans show up, sold-out Phish shows in communities like Hampton are high impact events that strain the normal daily flow. Add ticketless fans to the equation and the situation can quickly become overwhelming to the local community. Thanks in advance for respecting the Phish scene.

I just looked at the site (I posted before checking) and it's $18.95 for NYE is .shn form.... It's a cool idea but I think that's a pretty high price. I'm still going to preorder NYE but I'm not so sure about the other Hampton shows.

I agree...it's a really high price. It's still a great idea though. I'll definitely order NYE, might see if I can get the rest through other means...

Two good download sites with good shows. I will probably download NYE too though. if anyone knows of anyone who has two extra tix to Greensboro, NC, I would love to buy them.

I wonder though gdrlv, if since they are "selling the shows" if they will even allow tape trading on those?

I've been using furthur (www.furthurnet.com) for a while and so far it's been great - it's a p2p that only allows legal recordings to be shared.

I wonder if these shows will now be (technically) off limits for trading? Whenever a show is officially released it's supposed to be taken out of circulation - I would imagine these count as well (which would suck, it would make the holiday run the first shows that had no chance of being traded).

hehe... great minds think alike....

I can't imagine that they wouldn't permit taping on this run...particularly since (as far as I know) they sold taper tickets. Officially released CDs can't be trades, but I'm guessing (hoping) that these download shows will still be tradeable. It doesn't seem fair to the fans to exclude this initial NYE run.

I use Furthur a lot also. I check out Nugs every once in a while, but Furthur has a much stronger selection (because it's a p2p of course).

It seems like they've changed their trading policy to only exclude the official releases. You can still trade the show as long as it's an audience recording, you just can't trade the official release.

I downloaded the 10-7-00 shoreline show, sounds much better than the copy I got off nugs.net. 45 bucks for the New Years and the Hampton shows in .shn format. I probably will do it, but Im still a little on the fence about it. BTW, does anyone know where I can buy two tix to the Greensboro show? Thanks
