Any QOTSA fans??
Anyone here enjoy Queens Of the Stoneage?? I have had rated R for quite awhile but can not stop listening to Songs for the Deaf. It's good to know real rock n roll is still being produced. This is by far my favorite album of 2002 yet none of my friends had ever heard of them. Anyone else who's listened to Rated R or Songs for the deaf tell me what you think

I never knew who they were... I only found out about them 'cause their was the STUPID rumor that DAVE[GROHL] was leaving the Foo Fighters [LUV the FOO, and NIRVANA, of course]... so I was like okay he's playing drums, so who cares... fast foward to the release date of "songs for the dead" I was @ BB to buy SILVERCHAIR's cd, when I noticed the QOTSA album on sale for $6.99 [w/ DVD]... I was like damn that's the group that DAVE is on... so I picked it up as a BLIND BUY [as an album and group...well didn't know how they sounded and such]... after listened to it, I was like damn it's a GOOD album, and I fell in love w/ "NO ONE KNOWS"... I was hoping that they would release that as a VIDEO... so then what happened to my surprise, it's their NEW/LATEST video, I was like FK'n SWEET!... anyway I have one album of theirs and like it... So AM I A FAN?... How's" RATED R" [is it any good?], and they have a SELF TITLED album, don't they?

Been a fan since before QOTSA was born, back when Josh & Nick were in KYUSS (R.I.P) which had a heavier, desert-groove vibe to it. (Check out "Blues for the Red Sun, or "The Circus leaves town") I love all of QOTSA's albums, the s/t, Rated R, and the latest. They also put on an amazing live show. I felt Dave Grohl really added to the music on the latest cd and wasn't just a "celebrity guest musician" that usually detracts from a bands sound.

Saw them perform (for the first time) last Friday night at the annual HFS Nutcracker concert, they were great!

They also released a CD EP that has a song "Born to Hula" on it that really rocks. I think it's OOP though :(
FYI, both "R" and Songs for the Deaf have Japanese editions that contain bonus tracks :) -Gunshy |
I'd only heard of them until last week, then i got songs for the deaf. Now i can't get their music out of my head. I love 'go with the flow' and 'the sky is falling', but the whole album is great. definitely one of the best albums i've heard this year.

You can order it from cdnow and probably a few other places as well. |
Definitely check out their first self-titled record. It's not as produced as the last two, but has a lot of great songs, and remains my favorite thing they've done.

Anytime I see a rare thread on a band I like I have to add to it. I dabbled with Kyuss, but have been down with the Queens since the s\t. Worth mentioning that they colab with Mark Lanigan and that's as good as vanilla puddin'.
