I didnt think Cornell sounded all that great. He definetly did not nail that scream he does in Cochise. I think his voice was off on this performance.

Just watched the Letterman performance on Replaytv. Was pretty decent. I did enjoy the fact they were playing on top of the marquee of the theater.

Any more thoughts on this album? I loved RATM more for its "bounce" that was noted on its early albums and Tom Morello's guitar work... I'm not going to miss the political aspect of the band. I thought Cochise was pretty good... the video was fun, too. Lotsa pyro. :) I'm thinking about getting the album during Best Buy's preferred customer sale this weekend.

And on a side note, has anyone heard the version of "Wu Tang Ain't Nothin' To **** With" with Wu Tang and Tom Morello? It's beautiful.

I think a few of the songs have the "bounce." But don't got expecting the whole album to sound like that. Around half the songs are fairly mellow, though still awesome.

I like it more each time I listen to it. Definitely the best album I've bought in years. It's sounds like something that would have came out in the early-mid 90's when music was actually good IMO.

I was always a fan of both Soundgarden and Rage, but not rabidly so. This Audioslave record has HUGELY exceeded my expectations and is the best rock album I've heard this year, eclipsing the new Queens of the Stone Age and Foo Fighters albums, which I like but were still somewhat disappointing.

The mark of truly great songs to me are ones I wake up with in my head, and "Shadow of the Sun" has been doing that for me the past few days, alternating with "Set It Off", and of course, the awesome "Show Me How to Live". Cornell sounds great, the production is huge and perfect and I just love the damn thing. "Hypnotize" is very catchy too and is unlike anything these guys have done before. I can see at least 4 or 5 songs from this record being really big on Modern Rock radio.

The album does lose a little momentum towards the end, but that's a minor quibble. I agree they pretty much sucked on Letterman, Cornell looked and sounded disinterested. I really hope they stay together as they have a sound unlike anyone else out there right now.

Okay. First off, I hardly ever buy cds. And I realize that this cd is like 2 years old.

But I was watching VH1 Mega Hits the other week and saw a video for Audioslave's Show Me How To Live and then the next day rushed to Wal-Mart and got the cd for like 9 bucks.

I have had the cd for about two weeks and it has not came out of my changer and has not quit being played yet.

When I bought the cd I did not realize how old it was! (came out in 2002 - I was just starting college - now I'm a junior).

Anyway, the cd is fuckin awesome. Cornell is still at the top of his vocal game and the band is kick ass. I really dig the moody vocals and the speedups in the instruments throughout the cd.

I can't stop playing Shadow Of The Sun: my favorite on the cd.

Sorry for bumping a really old thread, but I just had to give praise for this album (sounds like it came out a month ago, not two years).

While we're rehashing...

I just picked up Smashing Pumpkins "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" and must say it is....j/k;)

I planned on getting the album (Audioslave) for the longest but havent for one reason or another. I will pick it up after Turkey Day.
