Time for the "I hate Ticketmaster" rant

Actually, it is a pretty short rant. I went to their site to buy a ticket with a $48 face value and the total was $60.25. That is a 25% surcharge in this case. I refuse to be a party to it and left without the ticket. I know I will sound like an old fogey, but what the heck has happened to concert going in this country. The $48 face value was bad enough, but this is ridiculous.

I will do just about anything to avoid giving that company one penny. I'll inconvenience myself to avoid the convenience charge.

I wanted to get in on a presale, but if I even go now I will hit the box office and buy my ticket there.

I reallly with Pearl Jam had been successful a few years ago. Hope some other group with a big enough stature tries to create an alternative to Ticketmaster.

The main problem is that the promoters, venues, and Ticketmaster are all in this together and they have a stranglehold on the concert industry. They feed each other and can keep raising fees. I'm surprised this is not considered a monopoly, but apparantly it isn't.
