Who do you think is actually using that kind of terminology other then people who grew up in web 2.0. She is "acting her age",the people who grew up loving and listening to pop-punk are mostly 30 somethings now. It's actually shocking to me how many older millenials(ie people who could vote but not drink legally when Avril started) and Gen X'ers still dismiss Avril or an entire genre of pop-punk just cause of some rigid genre gatekeeping of "real" music.

If you talk/act the same as you did as a teenager, then you probably haven't grown up and not aren't acting your age.
Except in her case, I suspect she did - as she seemed to have gotten more mature on her last album. Of course it didn't sell well, so I'm sure that's why she's going back to the well again.

I think she did a more mature album around 2011 with a lot of ballads and slower songs and some after that too and just recently went back to pop punk.

She can probably pull it off since she has not aged and it seems like that genre of music is back in fashion with younger people
