She's pretty decent looking all made up. without make up though =

She's not punk. Or maybe she is and I missed the memo where you have to wear a tie to be punk now a days.

Wow. A two page thread on the ramblings of a teenager. Maybe Sprite is wrong and image is everything.

Regardless. Like the old preMTV/pre Internet days, I don't know too much about Avril. Just the two songs i've heard. [And what i've read here] AFAIC the songs are catchy. If I gave it much thought [like you guys obviously have], i'd probably hate her on principle.

As far as looks go...different strokes I guess. With or without makeup she's bland.

I've never even heard of her. I just came into the thread because I saw it was 3 pages, so there must be something interesting. The crummy celebrity pictures proved my hypothesis to be true.

put on your pop radio station (i know its hard) and if you hear any songs that have the words "complicated" or "sk8er boi" (yes i spelled it right) and you have found her.

So has she dropped the tie since she wanted to reinvent her image?

Re: If you think Avril Lavigne is a punk poser, read this article

This is not good

The bad news is, there's no actual Hello Kitty cameo in Avril Lavigne's new "Hello Kitty" music video. And the good news is… well, there is no good news. "Hello Kitty" is mewlingly terrible.

So terrible, in fact, that it is not even on her official YouTube channel, although it can be viewed on fansites and as non-YouTube version on her own website.

Avril's bizarrely bad new clip premiered Tuesday night, and the claws instantly came out on the Internet, with music fans calling out Avril (and by proxy, her husband, Chad Kroeger, who co-wrote the song) for ripping off Skrillex's side-shaved haircut and Gwen Stefani's "Harajuku Girls" shtick from more than a decade ago — not to mention for inappropriately appropriating Japanese culture.

Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, and USA Today all viciously slammed the video —Billboard called it "an embarrassment in any language"

She had an alright voice, but yeah, it looks like Chad Kroeger makes everything a hundred times more terrible.

That's a terrible song and video. But she's done similarly awful stuff in the past. Those nasty reviews are just reacting to her marriage. Pretty hollow criticisms if you ask me: she ripped off someone's haircut?! And since we all know Gwen stefani invented Japanese pop culture 10 years ago that means Avril stole that too. So boring when the press just goes along with prevailing opinion.

I was expecting to see something outright racist in the video, but I didn't notice anything. The over-reaction from the press seems a bit much.

The worst part is her singing about truth-or-dare and spin-the-bottle like she's a fourteen year old girl. You're thirty, dear. Stop acting like a character from Sweet Valley High.

Avril Lavigne's new Japanese-themed music video for her song "Hello Kitty" may be eccentric, but the singer says it's definitely not racist.

"RACIST??? LOLOLOL!!!" Lavigne tweeted Wednesday, clearly laughing out loud.

"I love Japanese culture and I spend half of my time in Japan. I flew to Tokyo to shoot this video...specifically for my Japanese fans, WITH my Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director IN Japan

This sounds like a Avril knockoff
