Debussy recommendations?
Man, I'm hoping at least one person can give this question a shot.
Saw Edie Falco and Stanley Tucci on Broadway this past weekend, in "Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune." It was great, etc. Really liked the piece they played in it, Debussy's "Claire de Lune." Questions: 1) Anyone know where I can find Bill Charlap's performance of it? What album? That's the version in the play, but I can't find it anywhere (searched cdnow and amazon). 2) In addition to (or barring) the above, can anyone recommend a nice (and easily available) recording of Claude Debussy's "Claire de Lune." Please, for the love of God, save me from having to register in a classical music forum somewhere..... |
I've searched my books, and the only two recommended recordings are these:
Ulster Orchestra, Yan Pascal Tortelier conductor Philharmonia, Goeffrey Simon conductor There are plenty of bargain basement recordings of Clair de Lune, but my books are too hoity-toity to review them. :) If I find anything else, I'll post it. |
Thanks, DarkElf. By all means, please post more if you find more. Hoity toity is good. I don't want to go with a bargain basement recording if there's a better one out there.
