Madonna's Blonde Ambition tour coming to DVD soon!
Just got this from Madonna.com:
Gilbert Valdez asks:
I'M WRITING TO YOU BECAUSE OF THE BLONDE AMBITION CONCERT. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU KNOW WHERE OR HOW I CAN GET A COPY OF THIS CONCERT BY VHS OR DVD???.
Caresse: This is a question that has been brought up frequently, we hope to have a release date on the Blonde Ambition Tour DVD in the next few months.
So that's some good news. Just curious as to WHICH version of the concert will be released. There were 4 concerts recorded:
Yokohama, Japan
Barcelona, Spain
Paris, France (Truth or Dare live footage)
Nice, France (HBO special)
I love the HBO special because it's the very last show of the tour...however it'd be awesome to get a professionally edited version of the TOD show. Plus it would be something unreleased as of yet. I'm doubting either of the first two will make their way onto DVD.
Anyone else excited?

Yeah...but those were rumors. They never came from any source other than overzealous Madonna fans.
This is actually from her assistant.
Maybe this will stop some of the bootleggers on that auction site who have been selling these things for months.

I liked the HBO special, but only the original Live cut. for some reason, after the editing (artistic camera angles andjump shots), it loses its flavor, so to speak.

I actually have only seen that once...when it originally aired. Did they re-record any of the vocals as well?
HBO had horrible problems with the original broadcast of the Girlie Show.
I forgot to mention that 2 of the 4 shows mentioned were available on laserdisc. Have both and would love to see both on DVD...but probably not gonna happen.

No word. The Re-Invention Tour will be released later on this year after her documentary comes out. It's now slated for a November release. It's very possible that they'd release it along with that but who knows. Haven't heard anything about it in a very long time. No comments because people are too concerned with getting this most recent tour out...and honestly, as much as I absolutely LOVED the BA tour, Re-Invention just barely edged it out.

Looks like we're getting close - BLOND AMBITION, THE VIRGIN TOUR (in full supposedly) and a remastered THE GIRLIE SHOW are coming this year from Warner. DVD and Blu Ray.

I went to high school with her. Saw the special on HBO and had no idea it was her.

Where any of these shot on film? Any footage I ever saw from Blonde Ambiton (except for Truth or Dare ofcourse) has been video. The previous Girlie Show dvd was from a video broadcast as well. I've never seen anything from the Virgin Tour, but being early 80's it's possible it was shot on film. Just wondering how they plan to do an HD version if only 480i video cameras where used?

Which I suppose makes sense since they're both former In Living Color Fly Girl dancers turned TV judges on top-rated Reality TV programs.
