Yeah baby!!!

My buddy just called me about seeing RJD here in LA!!!

I've only seen him once but it was one of best shows I've seen. RJD knows how to put on a show and his voice rules.

B5Erik 10-12-02 10:50 AM

Man, I'd REALLY like to see the San Diego show.

I just saw Dio opening the Deep Purple/Scorpions tour, and this line-up for Dio is just phenomenal!

The new material sounds GREAT live! (Hell, it sounds great on CD! Killing The Dragon is Dio's best album since The Last In Line!)

Jason 10-12-02 08:13 PM

Aaarrrgghh!!! Hammerfall!!! And no Pittsburgh show or anywhere reasonably close!!! Aaaarrrgghhh!!!!

Mordred 10-14-02 11:18 AM

Just a note, I saw RJD in a small club (1500 people probably) in Austin his last time through town (with Armored Saint(!) and Lynch Mob). Show was killer, but it was the loudest concert I've ever been to, and I've been to my share. I started up around 20' from the stage and ended up on the back wall. I just couldn't take it. Suffered a little hearing loss that night as well which sucked.

As I'm guessing these aren't big venues it's probably wise to bring earplugs.

I hope Dio is ready to have his ass handed to him by King's X

B5Erik 10-14-02 01:06 PM

Trust me, that won't be a problem.

I've seen Dio and King's X several times in the last few years. Dio is a much more entertaining live band than King's X.

Plus Killing The Dragon is the best Dio album in 18 years, and it's better than anything that King's X has done since 1994.

King's X hasn't put out a great album since Dogman back in 1994. (Lots of good ones, but nothing to write home about.)

This just looks like a really solid tour - I'm hoping to be able to see it.

My buddy who's "pro concert goer" has seen King's X but he says they can't hold a candle to DIO....

jagpanzer 10-15-02 04:12 PM

Damn! No where near Colorado! URGHH!!

Mark

B5Erik 10-15-02 09:33 PM

Hey, Mark - any chance of getting Mechanized Warfare & Thane To The Throne CDs to play and review?

Love the DVD (Jag Panzer - The Era Of Kings and Conflict).

And it sucks that the Dio tour isn't going anywhere near you. I'm just hoping that I get a chance to go myself...

Dude,Kings X has nothing on DIO !
His lyrical abilities are far better and more meaningful.
Iv seen DIO 3 times in 3 years here and this will be the 4th in NOV.
His shows always kick ass.
I remember back in 85' I think, when he had 'bigger' shows.
OH MY GOD !!!! killer stage and the one thing that HASNT changed is his voice.

DIO ROCKS !!! http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies...ator/devil.gif

I guess if you consider songs about dragons, evil, and stuff like that meaningful.

B5Erik 10-16-02 01:12 PM

cdollaz - don't fall into that old trap.

Actually, the dungeons and dragons lyrical themes are in the minority on most of Dio's albums. That may be what he is most known for, but his lyrical themes are actually quite diverse, and he does have a knack for writing lyrics that can be interpreted in different ways.

King's X writes some great lyrics as well, but I wouldn't say one is necessarily better than the other between them and Dio when it comes to lyrics.

Musically King's X is more adventurous, but they haven't done anything great since Dogman in '94 (like I said before). They are all so busy with side projects that King's X doesn't get enough focus from Doug or Ty to be great anymore.

Dio came through BIG TIME with Killing The Dragon - his best album since The Last In Line, and there have been some great ones in between the two.

I'll tell you this - it's gonna be a GREAT tour!

Interesting that most people think that. I love Dogman also, but I think Ear Candy, and especially Tape Head, are great albums also. The latest couple have been sketchy, especially the last one, which is just bad, and you are right, the side project thing may be hurting the band as a whole.
