That being said, it's nice to see Depeche Mode make the list - although I'm surprised it's not "Violator that made it. Albeit, "101" is probably my favourite live album ever. Then again, it is quite an embarressing list... oi.

I think both are overrated.

I'm just surprised because there are only two songs on Revolver -- Eleanor Rigby and Yellow Submarine -- that could be considered popular hits. And while I certainly recognize that the number of popular hits is probably not the best way to determine the greatest rock albums of all time, I've just never thought that Revolver was an accessible album in the way Sgt. Pepper's or Abbey Road (or a number of the other albums on the list) were, and so it surprises me to find it #1 on a public survey.

I'm trying real hard to separate my argument from the fact that I find Revolver dull. ;) Much more of an Abbey Road fan. :)

Abbey Road is hands-down the best album I've ever heard. On the flip side, Sgt. Pepper is the most overrated album I've ever heard (with the possible exception of OK Computer). I guess you had to be there.

Elvis is not an album based artist, so it's no surprise he's not on the list. His most popular period was in the days when LPs were basically just a marketing tool to resell all the 45s in one package. Elvis is a great artist, but he never made a truly great album

The only thing I see about this list is, since it's a survey, a lot of the replys come from younger people who simply haven't been exposed to a lot of things. When I was 18-19, my list of top albums would not have included many of the things it would now, even though they were already classics, like Abbey Road mentioned above.

Dookie is a great album, a lot of people think so. It's not like they put one of their crappy ones on the list. I'll agree that System of a Down shouldn't be on the list. Like everyone has said these are readers; Eminems albums sell millions of copies, so I dont see how it is shocking that he is on the list. I am actually kind of surprised the list isnt absolutely terrible. I think most of the music on the radio sucks, and a lot of the rock bands right now suck too. I was expecting to see Creed and Staind albums, so the list didn't seem that bad. Of course its not going to be great; they never are.

Zooropa is just "different" from the Top 40 pop U2 usually does. It's actually an interesting listen.

Are there still people who think Nirvana was overrated???

Nevermind and In Utero are modern-day classics.

The point is both of these results must be interperted for what they show. The average taste of those polled. Not the 'best' , nor what you might like.

Studies like these are best looked at from a sociological viewpoint, not a musical one.

I think this list could have been much worse as well. If there are mainly younger readers voting I'm surprised "Revolver" was up at the top. I'm a "Revolver/Rubber Soul" Beatles fan and think these recordings are way better than what the Beatles did after this (yes, I'm including the White Album).

I don't think Zooropa is close to being U2's worse. Gotta be "Rattle and Hum" with a close tie being "All That You....".

It's just a little list of tastes. Personally, I'd like to see that GnR recording down to about number 503.

This being a fan poll, I bet that it will be quite a bit different next year or five years down the road. Eminem and whatnot will slip down (or off) the standings, to be replased by the next "best" thing that comes along.

Really, these polls are good for a larf, or to get a snapshot of the public taste, but not for much else.

The snapshot of public taste can be pretty interesting, expecially when it's often so radically different than what gets played so heavily on the radio and MTV.

Yeah, for all you hear about the music industry's marketing (supposedly, that's one big reason why CDs cost so much), they don't seem to have much of a clue. On the other hand, does anyone think that eminem would be on the list if he hadn't been mercilessly pushed down our throats for the last two years?

If any band on this list deserves to be, it is them.

Yes. Eminem is talented. Deal with it, folks.

#1. Funny, pretty much every U2 fan I know considers Rattle and Hum to be their worst.

#2. In Utero and Nevermind are classic albums. Nirvana will never be overrated.

Four Beatles' records in the top ten? That's a little ridiculous, if you ask me. All I want to know is where is The White Stripes' De Stijl? I think that should be somewhere in the top ten.

I'd put their '99 self-titled debut on the list before De Stijl.
