A limited edition bonus disc of B-sides and a DVD will accompany U2's second hits collection, "U2: The Best of 1990-2000," due Nov. 5 through Interscope. Dubbed "The Best of the B-Sides," the 14-track second disc includes such songs as "Summer Rain" and "Your Blue Room," as well as remixes of U2 tracks by the likes of Paul Oakenfold and Alan Moulder. The bonus DVD will boast exclusive content, including the "History Mix of U2 in the '90s."
"U2: The Best of 1990-2000" features two new songs, "Electrical Storm" and "The Hands That Built America." The former will be released as a single and will be supported by an Anton Corbijn-directed video starring actress Samantha Morton ("Minority Report") as a mermaid. The clip was recently shot in the French seaside town Eze.
"The Hands That Built America," meanwhile, will also be featured on the soundtrack to Martin Scorsese's long-anticipated "Gangs of New York." The Miramax film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day Lewis, and Cameron Diaz, is scheduled to open Dec. 25 in U.S. theaters.
The 16-track "1990-2000" disc includes such well known U2 songs as "Even Better Than the Real Thing," "Mysterious Ways," and last year's smash, "Beautiful Day." Four songs -- "Discotheque," "Gone," "Numb," and "Staring at the Sun" -- appear as "substantially reworked" versions courtesy of producer Mike Hedges.

The Irish quartet will follow up the audio collection with a "Best of 1990 - 2000" DVD, set for a Dec. 3 release. The set will include videos for songs on the A-sides disc along with commentary from directors Corbijn, Wim Wenders, Kevin Godley, Stephane Sednaoui, and Jonas Akerlund. The title will also feature alternative versions of video clips made for different countries, as early cuts, or to accompany different mixes, as well as six bonus tracks: "Please," " If God Will Send His Angels," "Wild Horses," "Lemon," "Last Night on Earth," and "Mofo."
The DVD will also include the short documentary "The Road to Sarajevo." The piece was filmed as the U2 prepared to perform in the Bosnian capital in 1997, and includes footage from the concert.

I'm disappointed the B-sides include so many remixes (which I could care less about) and none of the covers they did during the 90's like "Fortunate Son" or "Paint it Black."

I agree Dubya, 4 b-side songs and 10 remixes, I really dont qualify that as a "B-Sides" album either
While on the subject does anyone know what the b-side songs are on the upcoming two part CD single for "Electrical Storm"?

First of all:
1)Gone is the best track on pop and destroys Please as far as songs go. It's much more catchy and singable. Don't get wrong, Please is O.K., but bono sounds like he's 80, and on his very last vocal strings before they die out.
2)It's called best of 1990-2000. Not 2001. Elevation doesn't qualify and even if it did, ATYCLB just came out a few months and Elevation is still being played on the radio frequently. What more exposure of the song could you want?
3)HMTMKMKM rocks! Aint the best U2 track ever made but certainly warrants a spot on this comp imho.
4)WTF is a dvd of the first ten years of videos?
5)I agree about the b-sides... sup with the 70/30% ratio of remixes on there? If that's the case where's my pop remix? The first b-side compilation kicked a cow dung truck load of ass!

I don't care either way--I've already got it on ATYCLB, so it doesn't matter to me if its on this record or not.

As far as I can see both this and the earlier collection are to do with singles.

editted to add: occurred to me you meant singles released pre-2000. I guess "Walk On" wouldn't be included then. Not sure when it was released.
In any case, I'm so tired of that damn "Beautiful Day" song.

I wish they'd release more of their pre-Elevation Tour stuff on DVD. Look at all the VHS tapes of concerts and videos they have out. All we've got on DVD is Rattle & Hum. They even advertised for two *VHS CONCERT VIDEOS* on their Elevation DVD. WTF? Where is the Zoo TV concert? Red Rocks? Popmart? Pre-90s Videos? Etc, etc.. Their DVD output is pathetic.

No "Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses?" or "So Cruel" from Actung Baby? If this really was a greatest hits album, they'd pretty much just take A.B. in its entirety, Stay, Stuck in a Moment, HMTMKMKM, Staring at the Sun and leave the rest off.
This is just my opinion. Its pretty obvious I'm not a fan of most of Zooropa or Pop.

I've always been a casual U2 fan, only having Best of 1980-1990, the Joshua Tree, and ATYCLB. However, I've now started picking up all of their discs. I just got Zooropa and Achtung Baby. Zooropa sounds good to me, even if it is quite different. All need now for post-Joshua Tree cd's are Pop and Rattle and Hum. Also, can't find my GH disc, though I do have my B-sides disc.

I think it is only 2 discs. If not, what is the 3rd disc?
