ok ok....this is becoming all too common recently :(

I was going to ask if he drowned in a pool. That, my friend, is irony.

...of course maybe he drowned in a pool of his own vomit....

Giantrobo 08-14-02 06:02 PM

I think I saw them open for DISTURBED. This is sad. I really hope he died from something other than a drug OD....that would be so boring.

Shimmer35 08-14-02 06:25 PM

It really sucks for the fans when something like this happens.

I am not a fan of them but I am sure some might be sad about it.

El - Greazzo 08-14-02 07:16 PM

This realy sucks because I just missed them at Ozz Fest this weekend. Along with Disturbed, they were one of my favorite bands to listen to. Thier song "Bodies" would of been a much bigger success if it were not tied to/released around 9/11. I know many stations felt it was not cool to play the song after seeing people jumpimg from the WTC.

RIP Dave Williams.

Agreed -- the WWF was playing the song on every show, it became one of their theme songs and was used in all promos for SummerSlam and was Stephanie McMahon's entrance theme... it was never heard from again after 9/11/01

Bodies was released and gone long before the WTC thing. It isn't heard anymore because it's an old single.

I didn't really care for their music, but that is sad that he died so early into his career.

They were one of the bigger acts that were about to come to a radio show here in Portland Oregon at the end of the month too.

Rypro 525 08-15-02 10:35 AM

i still here that song every once in a while.

Rypro 525 08-15-02 12:46 PM

on the radio, they said that, the band pulled up to nissan pavillian (where ozzfest was going to be next ) and got up to get the keys, they notcied that the singer wasnt there, the manager goes to the bunk to find that he had passed away. an autopsy has been performed but results wont be availible until later today.

cdollaz 08-15-02 05:54 PM

The question is: What killed him?

1. Alcohol
2. Drugs

Goat3001 08-15-02 08:34 PM

An autopsy conducted Thursday morning proved inconclusive, according to a Prince William County police spokesperson. A cause of death is expected to be determined from toxicology tests, which generally take four to six weeks.
So I guess that means it WAS either drugs or alcohol?

Rypro 525 08-15-02 08:42 PM

it was problably alcohol since they didnt seem like a druggy band.

Yeah thats what I'd think but he was a pretty big guy and I'm sure he had a pretty good tolerance to alcohol. How much did he drink? -eek-

Snake Plissken 08-15-02 09:11 PM

If he died from drugs...... then who really cares?

Maybe his family, friends & his fans?

it's sad yes, but I think he was really refering to the whole scene of the rock stars with drug problems. it's sad but well.. if it's drugs.. would anyone really be surprised?

tygloalex 08-16-02 08:08 AM

Why do these rock stars constantly fall into the same trap?

Snake Plissken 08-16-02 08:21 AM

Because they are idiots.

RevLiver 08-16-02 12:06 PM

A guitar tech from one of the bands that was on Ozzfest earlier this year called KRock in NYC to say that Drowning Pool's singer had a pinched nerve in his back and had been taking painkillers for it. If he spent a night drinking and took his painkillers, that could be your reason right there.

benedict 08-20-02 11:32 AM

[A very serious request]

From here on in I'd like you to re-think your posting strategy.

Thanks.

update!
well acording to mtv news the band will go on and continue with ozzfest, but the singer will now be tommy lee formerly of motly crue

Jackskeleton 08-20-02 07:22 PM

thats horrorable. I hope everyone boo's them. it's the lead singer. it was what I would call, part of the "sound" of drowning pool.

Will they play there songs or will it be lee's songs?

all in all, if the lead singer of a band dies on tour, just stop and regroup. it's the only sane thing to do.
