Anyone have TOTAL GUITAR magazine's Top 100 guitarists of all-time?

This UK magazine just released their list of the top 100 guitarists of all-time.

I can't find it on the net, but I heard Hendrix was #1 and Clapton was #3... Clapton??? #3???

Anyone have the list?

I can think of about a dozen guys I'd put before Clapton.

edit: make that 2 dozen.

And a couple before Jimi...

Jimmy Page was #2

I heard them talking about it on the radio, but I haven't seen an actual list. I think it was Paul Harvey; he pointed out that these people don't remember Les Paul, so I think he was pretty low.

What I wonder is who voted on this? If it's the readers than I'll understand a little more than people who consider themselves educated critics of music.

according to the website, it was popular bands like nickleback, pod, puddle of mudd, soad and more were the ones who voted.

I've always hated lists like this, but out of curiosity, where did Dave Gilmour "rank" on this list?

Why the hell are Blink 182, Sum 41, and even Kurt Cobain represented on this list? Sum 41 even has two slots! Pete Townshend, Chuck Berry, and Tony Iommi are way too low, IMO. But I was pleasantly surprised to see Paul Weller and Rivers Cuomo on there. And Django Reinhardt at 73? Not in this universe...

But I do think Hendrix is just right at number one.

Uh...

This must be a reader's list. No real group of musicians or critics would ever rank them like this.

Funny, the guy I would put at #1 isn't even on the list!

slipknot???

Both Guys from Oasis???

Dimebag Darrell, Kerry King, Mike Einziger

Don't get me wrong I like a lot of their stuff, but they should not be ranked that high.

on the readers and their list.

Ok, I'm sure a lot of people who voted on this (if it's musicians) probably use Les Paul guitars. Where is he?!

John Petrucci is one of the better living guitartists. Frank Zappa should also be much higher.

This list is crap!
Jimmy Page is by FAR a better guitarist than Hendrix.
Hendrix was good, but Page erupted the music world with his fast innovative style.
Even to this day,Page plays as fast as he did
Kirk Hammett should be in the top 5 IMO.
The guy just simply tears it up.
David Gilmour is in the right place.
I'm a huge Floyd fan and he has technique like no other.
Whats up with Randy Rhodes and Angus Young not being in the top 10!

I know everyone has their own opinion on who is best and all,but if a list like this comes from a guitar magazine.......??????

Im gonna go out off the rock path here and say..........
THIS LIST IS WAKK !!!!!!!!

I'll have to respectfully disagree with ya, and say that Jimmy Page isn't fit to tune Hendrix's guitar. Page was by no means a bad guitarist, but come on, innovative? Not to these ears....

Where is Robert Fripp? We have to admit that the exclusion of Fripp is ridiculous. King Crimson had more innovative guitar work than nearly any other band.

</small> .... exactly! And opinions differ.

For information, I believe it was Steve Morse (of Dixie Dregs, solo, Kansas and Deep Purple - number 78 in the list) who was voted the guitar players' guitar player with such frequency that he had himself removed from that particular poll after five successive wins!

In the Hendrix mould, we seem to be missing both Uli Roth and Frank Marino. Likewise, perhaps the late Michael Hedges should feature somewhere alongside the redoubtable Mr Fripp who at least gets a look-in.... (at number 69)

.... but I don't have strong opinions on guitar players generally, so I can hardly berate the voters who didn't put riffmeister Iommi closer to the top spot: such factors as speed, virtuousity, originality etc. etc. are given different weights by people according to what they like.

Well I'd have to say that Page is a much better guitarist than Hendrix who gets my vote for most overrated (though certainly one of the most innovative).

While i love Hammett, I just can't see him being in the top 20. He's a fun guitarist to listen to, but I wouldn't call him great.

And how did Gary Moore (who's great BTW) manage to rank higher than SRV?

Still everybody knows the polls are run by idiots. We shouldn't get too upset by bad taste
