Ever listened to the Damnations TX?
 

I read a little capsule review of them, and they are playing in Denver on Wednesday night. The review made them sound great, and right up my alley, so I may check it out. Got any further info for me?

They came to play in Wichita at the Orphium about a few months ago and one of the promoters of the Orphium said they sounded like a mix between Wilco and Rev. Horton Heat but then again, they had a show in which they told me they had someone like Tori Amos and it wasn't until I was standing in line that I noticed all the Christian t-shirts and thne I realized that I was in line for a JENNIFER KNAPP show AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! One of the scariest moments of my life.

I've never seen 'em in concert, but I've enjoyed their Half Mad Moon CD, which has a variety of styles, from blues to rockers to rockabilly -- I prefer the rockers, but that's just me. (I just checked Amazon, and apparently they have a newer CD, which I haven't heard.) I think they have lots of ties to the Gourds, so that may be a selling point for you. I wouldn't be surprised if their live show was decent.

The "mix between Wilco and Rev. Horton Heat" comment isn't far off, but it's definitely the A.M. and Being There Wilco.

Actually, they're just called "The Damnations" now. They added the TX and then left it off their last CD. I've had their first CD "Half Mad Moon" since it came out. I wouldn't compare them to Wilco. They are more like a mixture of Blue Mountain and Freakwater, if you've heard of them! They consist of two sisters--who sing lots of harmony, and two guys. If you like Alt-Country/Americana, you'll enjoy the show.

they're one of my favorites...very rowdy..very fun.
