I was thinking of this the other day. How amazing is it that this number still sticks in almost every person's head (ove the age of say, 25)? How old is this song? 20 years? And yet I still remember Jenny's number... Mind boggling.

For a good time, call!

What's even funnier, is I'll be seeing them tomorrow night.

A GREAT song. Catchy as hell, and just good old Rock and Roll.

Too bad it was the end of their career. Just a little to "gimmicky," and the band wasn't given another chance. Hell, I don't even know if their next album had anything nearly that good on it since it didn't get played on the radio.

WAS there another album?

Apparently the "number" still causes problems for some... http://www.snopes2.com/music/songs/8675309.htm

Thanks for the link, LurkerDan. Interesting, and very nostalgic thinking about this song.

That's is my buddy's fake Safeway Club Card number

A few years afo, I called 1-800-867-5309.

It was a married couple, the wife's name was Jenny.

I guess they got it for fun or something - it kinda freaked me out to tell you the truth.

BTW, I'm not making this up.

In the 80's, my cousins called the number and got an Illinois prison.

POWERBOMB 07-31-02 08:09 AM

Local chapter of an anti-abortion clinic. Go figure. BTW, Jenny doesn't work there.

867 was a local exchange in State College, PA, where Penn State University is located. For a while, this was an active number up there, because some drunk at a party was accusing everyone there of calling him all the time. :)

Yes, actually 2 more albums here in the US and a total of 3 worldwide, for a whopping 5 albums.

Tommy Tutone
Tutone-2 (Available together on one cd)
National Emotion
Nervous Love (Import)
tutone.rtf

Tommy Tutone had a Top 40 (#38) hit of Angel Say No in the Spring 1980. Hit # 4 with 867-5309 in January of 1982. None of the 3 other albums had any success.

I saw them multiple times in the early 80's and saw them again last Saturday night. Much better than I was expecting. Saw Huey Lewis a few weeks ago and he's lost his voice, while Tommy sounded just the same as he did 20 years ago. Yea, I'm a geek.
