The Cardigans... anyone?
I have come to realize that The Cardigans (you know, those folks that brought us the song "Lovefool") is one of my favorite groups of all time. Does anyone know anything about what is going on with them right now? Are they going to release a new album? Are they even still together? I have searched around for info online but everything is from a few years ago. Nothing new AT ALL.
Also, are there any songs that are not on their current US releases that I could download? There are only 4 albums and I want more!!! Any suggestions??? |
Great band on Emmerdale and Life...I didn't care for First band on the Moon. I actually hate the song Lovefool. They redeemed themselves a bit with Gran Turismo.
Nina released a solo album called A Camp. I think I saw them on VH1s One Hit Wonders the other day. Not sure of any plans to make a new album. |
Yep. They only really hit it big with Lovefool! Great Song! And I don't think we'll be seeing them around anymore. Sorry.
|
Uhm...in the US they're only known for Lovefool. But in Europe and Asia, "Gran Tourismo" was a huge hit, especially "My Favorite Game" (great song).
Nina Persson & band have recently gone back into the studio - only to scrap the whole session. They're starting a new session and the music will be less trip-hop (like the last album) and more organic. |
Yeah, I really liked Gran Turismo. Especially Erase/Rewind. I think it was featured on the 13th Floor Soundtrack (sci-fi flick).
I looked on CDNow and they have a Japanese import listed as... Other Side Of The Moon (Jap/Aus) 1999 Most of the songs on this album were not released. I have since downloaded them and am listening to them right now. They are like the songs off of Emmerdale/Life. Pretty good stuff especially if you are like me and starving for more Cardigans. Thanks for the info about Nina's solo album. I'll have to try to pick that up. Also, thanks for the news about them going back into the studio. That is VERY encouraging. I thought that they had broken up or something. Where did you hear that anyway, Grimfarrow? |
Got the news from NME.

I hope they release some new stuff..
I really don't care for Lovefool, even though it is really catch. I really like My Favorite game, and Erase and Rewind. |
I downloaded a Lovefool remix and them doing a cover of Iron Man. Both are pretty good.
|
My fave album is "Life": particularily the song "Fine"
Have the Nina's solo album 'A Camp', but have only listened to it once should give it a second listen. |
They do a pretty cool cover of Burning Down the House with Tom Jones. It is on a Tom Jones album and I am sure you could find it elsewhere.

I've got the single for the "Buring Down the House" somewhere, I should try to find it. Here's the info on the album:

I actually prefer A Camp to the Cardigans.
Having said that, "Lovefool" was sheer brilliance... |
I just discovered them last month. I've heard the older stuff but wasn't interested and one day someone played Explode for me and I couldn't stop listening. I'm not too into Erase-Rewind but I like My Favourite Game. The songs that really hit me are Paralyzed and Mission Hill.
I have a feeling that they've developed two completely different types of fans thanks to Gran Tourismo |
Originally posted by Grimfarrow especially "My Favorite Game" (great song). And one of the coolest videos ever made. |
Originally posted by kilcher I downloaded a Lovefool remix and them doing a cover of Iron Man. Both are pretty good. Excellent album, the whole thing! I have listened to it numerous times in the car. When I first listened to it, the song "Iron Man" did catch me by suprise, but it is not a bad cover. If you are interested, you can pick up "First Band on the Moon", used, for $4.99 (plus shipping) from www.secondspin.com , which is where I bought my copy. If you are buying from them, be sure to pick up the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" soundtrack for $0.99, a great compilation CD. A couple others I saw that looked interesting (but which I dno't have) were Private Parts: The Album (contemporary and classic rock, Howard Stern Show) for $0.99, and Friends: Music from the TV Series for $1.99. |
