Ever discover a really good song on a CD years after you bought it?
Back in the pre-file sharing days of the late 80s/early 90s, I couldn't count the times I bought CD's, only to discover that I didn't care for them much (other than a song or two)
Then, years later, something prompts me to pop it in for a listen and I discover some golden nugget that I never knew existed.
EXAMPLE:
Where The Pyramid Meets The Eye: A Tribute To Roky Erikson
- This disc has a bunch of artists covering Roky's stuff, and at the time it came out (1990) it didn't hook me, despite having a number of bands I really like (REM, Poi Dog, Jesus & Mary Chain). Lo and behold, buried at track 18 is gem I just discovered:
Nothing In Return - T-Bone Burnett

That's a great question! I thought for a minute and came up with one. There was this CD ten or so years ago called "No Alternative". A bunch of different artists. I was making a compilation of New Zealand music for my girlfriend last year and noticed a song by the Verlaines on that disc. I knew they were from New Zealand and gave it a listen and WOW... their tune "Heavy 33" is excellent. Don't know how I let that get past me.
