Anyone pick They Might Be Giants - No! yet?

How is it? What other TMBG album does it sound closest to?

SAShepherd 06-12-02 03:40 PM

No, but I'm hoping I might get it as a Father's Day gift. I'm eager to hear it.

It's very good. Lots of short, cute, upbeat, catchy songs. Even though there are 17 tracks, it's only about 33 minutes long altogether. A few tracks (3, I think) have special guests performing the vocals.

I guess it sounds more like their earlier stuff...vaguely Flood-ish.

But hey, why not decide for yourself? Go to Giantkid.net - you can hear snippets from each song, and play with mini-versions of the interactive "videos".

The link below includes a review of the CD (third item down). They like it, and also reference earlier (Flood, and pre-Flood) work.

I picked it up yesterday. The songs I like most are: Four Of 2, Where Do They Make Ballons, In The Middle, John Lee Supertaster, and Lazyhead And Sleepybones. The only ones I didn't really dig are Violin and Clap Your Hands. Very good overall.

I remember reading about some songs they were working on for the kids albumn that were not on No. One was Clowntown and the other Monsters of Mud (which i heard one time online). Does anyone know if these are going to be released possibly as a single? I've looked at their web site and i couldnt find anything about it, just seeing if anyone here knows anything about it

I've got No! and really like it. It's made for listeners of all ages (i.e. kids) but really any of the songs would've fit right in on any of their previous albums. Four of 2, Where Do They Make Balloons? and Lazyhead And Sleepybones are some of my instant favorites off of this album as well. In fact, Lazyhead And Sleepybones is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in a long time.

As an added bonus, this disc has the best CD-Rom content that I've ever seen.

Highly recommended. And a must own for TMBG fans.

I finally got it a few weeks ago. It's a good album, though I'd disagree with Tscott -- I don't think every song would fit on previous albums (though they all strike me as Dial-A-Song material). I'm not disparaging the album -- I really like it -- just that you can tell it's a kids' album (in ways other than lyrics). Four of 2, Robot Parade, and John Lee Supertaster are among my favorites.

I agree, if you are a TMBG fan, you should pick this up.

Of course, if you are a TMBG fan, you probably already have.
