doves "the last broadcast"
anybody here like doves??
Kind of a semi-trippy band from Manchester, England who gets lumped in with Coldplay and Travis quite often. they have a new album called the last broadcast and it's terrific. It has more up-tempo songs than their first record Lost Souls. first single is There Goes The Fear this disc has a bonus cd with 4 b-sides including a strange Warren Zevon cover. |
I'm interested in hearing this. Really liked "Lost Souls".

I think the music is interesting, but the singer's voice doesnt' stand out or sound distinctive to me.
|
I really like it so far. I love the first album. It's one of those few albums that still hits the CD player at least once a week, even a year after I bought it, which is saying something.
I'll be seeing the Doves in exactly a week in Chicago, too. Hopefully the show will be good. I haven't seen them live yet. |
I just picked up Lost Souls two weeks ago and really like it. I'll be going back to get The Last Broadcast shortly.
|
stunning second album, have my tix to see them at the 9:30 Club on the 19th.
|
I agree with cdollaz, they seem to have talent but most of the tracks on both their cds don't particularly stand out
|
well... on the first album my two favourite songs are the "Cedar Room" and the beautiful "The Man That Told Everything", give it a second listen Phyre.

I rather liked it as well. I was actually expecting the sophmore slump. 'Twas not the case.
