Winamp 2.8 now with built in OGG support.
I am switching over to this format. I like the fact that it is getting support from most of the popular media players like Winamp. I find it a little difficult to tell the difference in quality between mp3s of equal bitrates but, the open source aspect is a big plus with all the litigation going on now.
For those who don't know about the "ogg" format, you can check out their web site here . Please add your feelings and comments regarding this format. |
I am always interested in new formats, and I am downloading the software to rip .ogg files right now. I don't think that I will switch completely to this new format, mainly because I have just under 1800 .mp3 files that I really don't want to take the time to convert. Maybe, since this new format is compatible with WinAmp anyway, I will just rip whatever I get from now on into it, and play them with my .mp3s. I'll have to see how they compare to .mp3 however.

Originally posted by Wormwood Where at? When I install it? Because I did that and it still doesn't work. Also on topic, I just read this article regarding Vorbis and Winamp. |
Originally posted by edstein Sorry, I miss read your post. There is a check box in the Input Plugins section under CD Line input option. Also on topic, I just read this article regarding Vorbis and Winamp. Turns out that I had to download the standard or full version. Thanks anyways. |
