Star Wars Ep2 soundtrack now out -- thoughts?

PLEASE NO TRACK TITLES HERE -- I'M SURE THEY'RE SPOILERS. PLEASE REFER TO TRACK#

I think the most interesting thing is that John Williams added electric guitars to the Star Wars sound. See track 3, at 5:12. Seems very Michael Kamen-ish to me.

My one and only post in this thread until after May 16: I have been of the belief for years that novelizations, merchandise and soundtracks should categorically NOT be officially released before a film is.

Bye.

Actually it's sort of a tradition - especially with Star Wars - for the novelizations, comic book adaptations and soundtracks to come out before the film. I fondly remember reading the "Empire" novelization the weekend before the film opened and wanting so badly to blab to everyone about who Luke Skywalker's daddy really was. The same thing happened with "Jedi" where I wanted to tell everyone about the Leia connection.

And since I've already read the AOTC script, there's lots of things I'd love to reveal. But I won't. Just so the spoiler-phobic among us won't get all whiny.

And no, none of the AOTC soundtrack titles are "spoilers" of any kind. None have the word "death" in them.

Not that the word "death" and AOTC have nothing in common, mind you.

this time around, the soundtrack wasn't that bad when it comes to spoilers. unlike the episode 1 soundtrack telling the key factor of the battle.

I loved the cd. heres the question though..

where did you buy it at?

Target had an extra track in the cd as a bonus and Kmart(or wal*mart) had an exculsive Screen saver with there version.

I haven't heard all of the score yet, but I like what I have heard so far. I like that it is quite different from the other scores, but you can still hear the influences from them as well. I hear a lot of Empire in track 2. I also liked the electric guitar moments in track 3.

On the spoiler note, I don't personally mind them too much, and I have the book ordered from the SFBC, but I don't think that I will read it until after the movie. If you don't like spoilers then definately don't read the backs of the Action Figure cards. Bigtime spoilers there.

I really like this score, very nice sounding and quite different. I think Williams really nailed it.. I hope the movie is as good as the music!

4 covers for a CD? That's pretty lame, they should have printed the four variations on the same set of liner notes and just folded it differently, so that people could change the cover if they wanted.

I'll hold out on this for the Ultimate Edition release like they did with The Phantom Menace.

I was able to D/L it entirely a couple of weeks ago and so far I really like it. Track #2 is the dominant theme of the whole score and it works very well. The first time I heard it, I could totally picture the movie and the sequences.

I would have to rank it #2 overall, behind ESB soundtrack, Disc 2. That is some of the best movie music ever composed.

Why? The so-called "Ultimate Edition" for The Phantom Menace was so half-assed and a complete waste on money. It was terrible. Shame on Sony for lying to its fans.

I have all the soundtracks so far, and I believe this one is on par with Empire's. I really liked tracks 2, 7, and 13. John Williams is truly the greatest film scorer ever.

I was glad they made one of the covers using the movie poster art. I don't know why everyone isn't buying the soundtrack at Target? It is only $13.99 and has an extra track not available anywhere else.

Don't worry. The "extra" track is horrible. You can tell it won't be in the movie because it sounds like it should be in a Muppets movie. It totally sounds out of place and just plain silly.

Do you think that there is any chance that this will be released as a DVD Audio CD?

What's the name of this bonus Muppet track from Target that you guys are talking about?

I bought mine from Best Buy last nite for $11.99. It came with a "Exclusive Limited Edition Episode II Collectable Card". And i bought the movie poster art cover.

When i first d/l it in March, i really wasn't feeling it. But it's growing on me.

Empire is still my favorite though.

Well, when the bootlegs came out on the net last month the bonus track was listed as "On The Conveyor Belt"

I bought my soundtrack from Target and got the bonus track, but its not listed at all on the back.

Does anyone know if this CD has that new copy protection garbage on it? Some people at the Jedi Council forums had trouble with it, but I'm not sure they knew what it was.
