question for the dj's in the house.

I'm looking for two (2) Pioneer CDJ-1000 digital turntables. The suggested retail on these is $1299 each, but I found them for $970 each (shipping not included). I have no idea what a good price is for these as they are for a friend. Where do you get your gear?

I shop at various places like Pro Sound and Stage Lighting http://www.pssl.com and The DJ Store http://www.djstore.com

As for price I'm not real sure if that is a good deal or not. I only spin vinyl so I don't really pay attention to the cd mixing stuff.

www.123dj.com
www.hollywooddj.com

also try guitar centers and mars music (but only to play with.. never buy from them)

buuut.. real dj's don't use cds :) :D -smile- -biggrin-

$970 is pretty good. I usually see it listed at $1100 each. www.audiolines.com has hooked me up in the past. Get them to give you a quote.

If money is an issue, Consider a pair of American DJ Pro Scratch 1's. They are smaller, cost only $350 and do everything that the 1000's do. The only thing a 1000 can do that the Pro Scratch can't do is a touch and go - i.e. when you press your hand on the jog wheel of a 1000, the cd stops - as if you've stopped the vinyl..... the Pro Scratch doesn't do that. But you can cue up with a pro scratch (i.e. spin it a lil' faster to match beats..) The jog wheel "acts" as the record and lets you adjust the pitch.... in ADDITION to the pitch control - plus you have pitch bend too....
