And it looks like the rumors about the Pumpkins reunion were false.

cool to see Coldcut listed - I hope they perform at a few other cities and not exclusively at Coachella - they put on an amazing live show!

IMO, weak lineup this year. After going the last two years, I may skip this one. Need to save $$$ anyway.

I'm only 28, but I feel old and out of touch when I look at the list of bands playing and I only recognize like 4. Are a lot of these small indie bands, or am I just lame?

I think part of the problem for me is that several of the bands that I love on that line-up (Sigur Ros, Mogwai, etc.) I have seen fairly recently.

Plus, the headliners do nothing for me. Never a good sign.

I like several of those bands, but not enough to fly out and brave the heat for 2 days. Enjoy, though!

this sounds like an amazing show-I've been waiting to see Daft Punk for quite a long time. I also heard Tool puts on a killer show. For those that have gone to previous Coachella concerts, could you give me any idea as to what to expect? Will I be standing in the middle of a crowd of 20,000 for 12 hours and be 5 miles from the stage or anything like that?

madonna being added is just ridiculous.
i'm probably going just the 1st night.
2nd night doesn't do anything to justify the ticket price for me.
i've been waiting forever to see daft punk.

Adken, you are so right! These bands GOTTA be (relatively) NEW, or underground acts. I'm a BIG music fan, and recognize only about 10 or 12 groups (and not one I'd pay cash to see).

Not to someone who's contemplating flying from NYC to see her. I already have friends from here with their tickets. It's the first time she's ever played a festival and also the "unofficial" start of her tour.

I would assume she's the headliner at the Dance Tent - would this be a full two hour set or an hour one?

How long are band's sets? I know at the UK Festivals the higher up on the bill a band is placed at, the longer the sets are.

No one knows what's gonna happen with her set. There was a press release for her performance because it's obviously a huge deal. I'm doubting she's going to do longer than an hour. It'll probably be a sneak preview of the tour...more akin to the AOL/Koko show this year.

i would be flying in too from cleveland,
the only thing is i have finals on May 1 at 9am.

do these shows usually sell out?

im surprised at the number of people that think the show has become crap because madonna joined- i was under the impression she pretty much had respect from most music fans these days. if it were britney spears or blackeyed peas, i could see their point, but madonna?!

but the fact that this festival has always been receptive to many genres of dance music for it not to recognize Madonna's (albeit mainstream) would be elitist. Kudo's to the organizers and Madonna for that fact, in making this one of the best festivals the US has to offer.
