are there any Distinct Music Genres which lived and Died in the 90s ?
in the 70s we had Disco
in the 80s we had Synth pop, electro break music and others
Music genres which from the mainstream point of view, lived and died in their decade
can you name any music genres from the 90s which lived and died in the 90s ?

was gangsta rap around before 1990, though? I know virtually nothing about rap - so I don't know.
Also, is it dead now? I mean the rap that I hear on the radio is this crap about how much money they have and how many cars and hos and the amount of drugs they do - but I don't know if there is still rap out there that could be called gangsta or not.

"Gangster Rap" With the death of Biggie & 2Pac?
What about ska? I know it's a genre that's been around for a while, but it did enjoy about two and a half hours of popularity sometime in 1996.

The glam metal image died..but the bands didnt. They became the alternative to the main stream...
Some of the bands still tour and do very well (Bon Jovi,Poison...)
I think the glam look has had a slight revival with the success of KISS and Marilyn Manson...but of course not like it was during the late 70s and the 80s

I agree they arent really "metal"
Then again..what is metal really? Now a days if Sabbath were a new band they wouldnt be considered "metal" would they?
Now a days bands like Korn are considered "metal" and back in the 80s Metallica and Warrant were "metal".
I think its right to just call them Rock or Glam rock or Hair bands.
Just like grunge was rock and they were called grunge because of how they dressed.
