Who Really Likes Macy Gray Anyway?

I keep hearing raves about her, that people love her songs and that she's so gorgeous. AM I MISSING SOMETHING HERE? I think her voice is awful, her hair looks like sh*t, songs are terrible. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MINDS ARE BUYING HER STUFF? Somebody let me in on this, please.

Maybe nobody is responding, because nobody else here likes her either

Anyway, I agree that she has a terrible voice. I don't really hate her that bad though. I reserve that for bands that really suck like Creed.

I like some of the new songs on her second album. They are kind of funky. I didn't care for the song that she had a top ten hit on her debut though.

I'll be the one

Ok...it's me. I really think she's great and so off the wall.
Yeah her voice is unusual, but she shits all over Celine Dion, Mariah, Aguilera, Britney and those other scrags.

I think she is a great artist and we need more nutbags like her instead of those whitebread, navel-baring middle class white-girl clones who have to flash their tits or have a breakdown to get noticed.

Rock on, Macy.

I agree 100% with Terry that there needs to be more renegade diversity in the music biz, however, Macy is not it. After the way Macy butchered our National Anthem a few months back, I'm ready to kick her @ss back to the south park karoake lounge she should have never left. The sooner the industry is cleansed of "artists" that don't give a sh*t, the better.

She sounds like she smokes two cartons a day. I don't like her, but I like her more than Alicia Keys.

Maybe I'm not getting something here... I mean, I'm not exactly what you would call a Macy Gray devotee, but I do bear listening to her music. It's not all bad!

Frankly, I do not understand the hostility towards some popular artists on display here, especially towards Creed, referred to as "a band that sucks" in a different thread as well.

I really like Creed!

So would someone please enlighten me on this topic. Or at least bear with me for my apparent lack in taste :-)

Both of Macy Gray's records are good, her voice works within the context of her albums. So--I like her, she's the best of the 'nu-soul' bunch for sure.

I like her raspy, gravelled-to-s**t voice and big black booty.

I just saw this on the main Yahoo page, and it made me ask the same question that the OP posted with this thread. I was going to post a thread just like this, but found this one using search instead.

So yeah, I now ask this question, over five years later - who really likes Macy Gray anyway?

The only reason I can figure out that anyone likes her music in any way, is because it gives hope to musicians and vocalists around the world. If she can make it, anyone can.

She is, without a doubt, my least favorite (serious) singer that I've ever heard in my entire life. For what it's worth, James Blunt is the male singer that I hate in the same way. *cringe*

I still think she's fantastic.

I don't give a shit what she looks like - I am interested in whether she can entertain me - and she does. I think she is way different and can see why people don't like her but then again I can't stand Timberlake, Aguilera, Spears, boring clone after boring clone yet they are huge but hey, that's life.

ROCK ON, MACY!!!!! I STILL LOVES YA!!!!!!

She looks better than she used to. I taped a HD concert of hers last month, but I ended up deleting it after watching it for a couple of minutes.

No, I prefer listening to Car Alarm or The Fran Drescher Experience. Macy Gray just doesn't have the same "bite" as these bands.

I've got a new one: after listening to clips of her latest album (and guest appearences on Flogging Molly and Elvis Costello CDs that I own), I can safely say that Lucinda Williams is by far my least favorite singer. She sounds like she's drunk! Hard to imagine someone would replace Stevie Nicks on the top spot of my list, but sure enough...
